the bolt just 'drops' into the hole (with the spring on it)?
i've got the cylindrical thing that drops into that hole thats visible from the top with the cam cover on (phaser) - it's not meant to be part of that is it?
I'll need atleast 1 'set' of collets as the ones for the valve i removed...
word on the street has it it's for the vvt plunger
so my parts list for renault tomorrow are:
new inlet valve
new valve guide (or valve seat?)
new valve stem seal
new retainer
new collet(s)
and possibly another one of them vvt plunger bolt things, as i seem to only have 1!
the reno parts...
I've put parafin in the upturned head and got no bubbles or anything
I bought a spring compressor, though I've no idea how you're meant to use it... no matter though, cause I think I found the problem? :D
broken in 3!
bent valve:
(I tapped this out lightly with a hammer and pin punch...
ok cheers, I'll give that a go!
I am looking for new engines, but if all thats wrong with this one is a broken valve I'll see if I can repair it...
tricky though... throwing good money after bad
oh i see
so, based on these pics, what should I do next? scrap the engine or repair it?
I'm a total noob at engines, but I'm willing to give it a go! I've got this far, might as well continue!
head is off! (so much easier than the mk1)
cylinder 2
all the others *look* fine?
Should I still get the head leak tested? or just set about repairing cyl 2?
