think its a knock.. get it under load
my downpipe isnt quite lined up, so its blowing loads! :( makes it tricky to pinpoint noises
I'm also having issues occasionly selecting 1st
just re-did the compression, each cylinder is on about 175 - that ok?
i do seem to have idle issues... in that it wont (unless i introduce an air leak)
but maybe thats due to having a 1.6 ICV :D
and stan, i was... until i heard it knock :(
introduced too big an air leak and when it started...
Engine is all together and timed up now
making good compression too (165-185) so happy with that! :)
just gotta figure out my wiring and see where my spark/fuel has gone! :(
incase anyone is interested... the engine is back together and timed up and tensioned etc...
I get between 165 and 185 compression (can't really screw the guage in properly as the plug holes are too deep :S)
so hope its done properly...
i've lost my spark/fuel somewhere though!
ah...
little update :D
dismantled the head:
re-lapped all the valves whilst i was there and replaced the bent one
great fun ;)
cleaned up the BE:
completed head:
some things arrive:
my ghetto angle gauge (worked a treat!!)
the inlet camshaft dephaser thing turned out to be...
yeh, thanks ben ;)
engine has been rebuilt now :)
I've done it by the book (hopefully :D) and have torqued everything up etc and generally took my time, so I hope it's ok!
my pulley and timing tools should arrive tomorrow... shouldnt take *too* long to time up the cambelt, should it? :S
sod it, bought one from renault :(
Looks like there have been 2 updates since the one I have.. hopefully it won't break again!
now there should be nothing stopping me from building this damn thing :(
the crank is currently locked in TDC and I've got the timing tools being delivered... at some point.
I've removed the head already (so have the E14)
I've already replaced the broken valve and lapped the others so thats sorted too
so how does oil pressure change the timing?
more noob questions :o
my inlet pulley can rotate a few degrees with respect to the camshaft - I assume this is normal and to do with the vvt (or is it broken :D)
only thing is, looking through the instructions on how to time it up, it doesnt seem to make any reference to this... i.e. I could...
no
jb1s don't line up
find any jb3 and that should fit. only the 16v and Williams box have the casing at the bottom that covers the flywheel (not an issue though, really)
the diesel is the same strength as a valver box, just different ratios (it's what I run out of preference) - only thing is...
ok brilliant! :D
I've not tried actually removing the hydraulics, so sorry for the silly question :D
I've just had a read through the workshop manual and that answers most of my questions..
apart from having to use a roller to apply the gasket paste to the camcover!! :D :D
you've all been so...
I thought we were talking about the head/bottom end for W&D'ing - do i need to do both?
for the cam cover i was just going to clean up both surfaces and apply some instant gasket or similar
how do I go about removing the hydraulics?
do I need to do anything to piston 2? (marked)
