got a few more questions about the UCH and the engine loom/ECU etc... :o
I'm putting a 172 engine in to a mk1, so do not have the UCH etc. I have a decoded ECU which should allow me to just plug it in to the engine loom and fire it up.
question is, if I have a loom with the UCH connector...
think I recall this being mentioned before..
the rev counter on the 16v clocks only reads half what it should do, yeh?
is it exactly half? (due to 2 coil packs?)
thanks for that :)
so I need to wire in controls for engine speed, coolant temp and to allow 10s after ignition
I've also heard that AC shouldn't run when below 4deg?
how does the ph1 172 cope with the added load of having aircon switched on at idle?
will it automatically sense the increased load and adjust the idle accordingly?
or is there some ECU trickery to keep it running right?
thanks :D
I bought an ECU today mate - it has the same codes on as yours does (from your text) - hopefully the ecu bloke can work his magic on it like he did for yours! :D
All I need now is a ph1 throttle body + airbox, fuel rail (with FPR) - though im using a valver one for now, exhaust made...
got myself a nice diesel gearbox thanks to harvythehippo! :D

Cleaning up:
The inner bolts look suspiciously new/clean!
Painted!
grubby hands on the driveshaft
installed: (flash makes everything look rubbish :()
the middle connection now comes out straight at the gearbox/dogbone mount  so I'll have to make that a very tight bend
Made up the remaining hydraulic lines on the rack tonight...
looks messy, but I'm reasonably happy with the result, considering it was my first ever attempt! :D

Broke one of the connectors :( (which is why the middle pipe is a bit longer and not...
