engine mounts are different... iirc, the 1.8 mounts make the F4R sit too high, but the 172 mount is about right
take a look in the projects section... Beaniemoo, geesus and myself are currently fitting 172 engines to mk1 clios... theres also a lad fitting a turbo 172 to an R5
lots of...
stevo172-RWD, me?
nick, only the mk1 1.8 16v and 2.0 16v (williams) boxes had casings that connect along the bottom too...
I wouldn't worry about it... mines the same (and i've used several boxes like that now)
trying to order my hose adapter for the heater matrix but not getting very far :(
I know I need a hose reducer and then a hose connector to connect the new hose to the old one
on DT, I've found a 25-19mm hose reducer, but now I need a 19mm hose joiner?
can't for the life of me find one :(...
starter is engaging properly, can see the engine turn over and the aux belt moving etc
there are no plugs in the engine, so it's turning over easily... im just concerned about that clicking/tapping noise
did a quick search, but couldn't find anything...
I've gone to connect my ht leads on the 172 engine but need to know what cylinder numbers are which :D
the mk1 16v is cambelt 4 and gearbox 1, but I hear the 172 is cambelt 1 and gearbox 4?
which is the right numbering?
fiddled with the relay, it now clicks open, but im only getting about 10v through it... battery is still showing 12v, but is admittidly quite flat (wont turn the engine over many times)... anyway connecting this up to the fuel pump doesnt start the pump, so i need to do some more fault finding...
trying to get my 172 engine to start but the fuel pump isnt priming - looks like ive got a relay (or 3) missing
fuel pump relay is meant to go where i've circled?
are the other spaces meant to be occupied by relays too?
:D
don't worry about it - just pick up my airbox at the airfield for me ;)
not found the exhaust flange yet! - just bumped my request in the wanted section
In the time its been sat, I've lost about 10L of petrol through evaporation!! :( :(
geesus was kind enough to show me the light (lol)...
she's alive!!! (sorta)
turning over now and all my interior electrics work (turns out I didnt connect the ignition barrel live
some token pics of scary wiring:
(yes thats 449 electrical tape :D)
I've got some wiring questions! :D
first, the mk1 alternator has a 2 pin connector - 1 of which i assume does the charge light on the dash and the other goes to the coil pack... (that right?)
the mk2 alternator only has 1 wire... this goes to the charge light?
I've got a large yellow wire...
It was all done over the phone, and he never said anything about vat being included or excluded :(
missed out my ICV too :(
see you have a golf now! enjoying the 'germaness'?
it arrived! :D
It has the UCH connector on it, but looking at it, it's only connected via some fused constant lives... so easy to remove!
also, the breakers sold me the loom £x, but in the reciept, they've billed me for £x+vat! - surely they should disclose this when telling the price??
