Your'e desperate for these aren't you Oz LOL.
The man speaks sense though, just depends on budget. Apex are the best value spring, closely followed by the Eibachs IMO.
They're a different ball game all together. They do make a difference on their own but not in the right way. I picked one up for £15 for my Chavalier, bottom end and up top there was definately more pull. Between 2500 and 4500rpm felt like someone had run up behind me and attached my old boys...
I had a Cobra box on mine which is what Ascar use, 'supposedly' good. The baffles had gone after 3 months and after 9, the backplate had ripped clean out of the box, the split wasn't on a seam either. You can't really expect much to survive the shear grunt of the 172 though.
You get what you...
If the bumper has been painted before which i'm guessing it has, chances are they will have been poorly masked so there will now be an overlap.
If Chris is aware of these, i'm sure he can make them look right if he's spraying over the top.
Out of curiousity, what other work are you having...
They may be harsh but when you drive the girls version like myself, you need something to make the car a little more masculine.
Overall, they are a good spring and cracking VFM if, as said slightly harsh but the turn in is well worth it.
^^^Gay as fook.
Had one on my Metro GTI briefly and then moved it onto my 2.0 16v Cavalier. All it did was make a noise like a duck with an air line up its arse. Just a gimmick.
Sports cat all the way. It will still give a gain and improve responses even if not quite as dramatically as a decat. Not worth the full price people charge though, my Janspeed was £53 ;) .
You won't get anywhere near 12bhp mate, 5-8 at the best.
Whichever chip/map you choose, you will see gains very similar to those I have on my car which is what was in the link I posted. The 172 and Cup engine is identical so there won't really be any variation.
Unfortunately the F4R engine...
I thought they were a clip on affair. I still wouldn't want them painted as the finish would probably be quite poor.
Whip them off and flat first ready for some new ones.
I think I need to pop down and let the main man quote me on mine.
I need both bumpers, bonnet and spoiler doing. I've also got a dent in my door which could do with looking at but some spunk monkey has blobbed touch up in there, d'oh.
Just have a quick go with the screwdriver, they should pop off I think.
As for the dents, give him a call. My rear qurters were pretty bad so took a while. I think it depends how long the repair takes but £65 does sound like a good price. Is that a contact of Chris' or someone else?
Glad you got in touch with him mate, where exactly is he?
As for the black sections, I think they can be removed. I wouldn't have them painted over as it will look as if it has been resprayed.
Dent wise, try www.dentsolutions.co.uk 07873 817338. Johnathan did both my rear quarter panels...
Standard airbox with Pipercross/Itg panel and uprated feed behind the headlight. Whack on a silicone inlet elbow for good measure. Will cost around £60 all in.
Any closed kit is overpriced and any open kit will cause heat soak and lose power. Most closed kits will for that matter.
Ben
Excellent, thanks for that mate. So will the top 2 fit the 9850RI as it isn't listed under the product.
What are the differences between the Alpine adaptors and the third party, simply the manufacturer or do any functions change?
