It's had a whack but fecking hell. That's one cheap engine conversion.

You do have a problem with the V6 spoiler touching the roof. The paint work on mine is wrecked. Middo must have the only one that doesn't touch. They do physically fit though.
If the Authentique spoiler is the same as the 172 spoiler, the washer jet and light will be fine. You'll need to pull the washer pipe quite a way though and have loads of patience when trying to fit the pipe to the jet.
I've not had it RR'd since I fitted the cat but I managed 179 @ the fly before the cat. I would hope for low 180's with the cat and my other mods and nearer 190 when I fit ported inlets.
As said, the open filters can have a positive effect at standstill drawing more air, causing the engine to run lean which could be converted into improved power with the correct map. However as soon as any heat is generated, they draw this in as well which increases intake temp's reducing power...
A rough 0-60 guesstimate on my circa 185bhp 172 would be 6.5-6.7. Top speed has been an indicated 152mph on a friends private driveway, I think it may have been the same one Justin used. ;)
Quality, looks like there'll be some pretty hi-tech mods available from Yoz for the 197 in the near future then?
RS26 conversion anyone? 'Only run 1 full race'.
I can't complain at mine, it was only £50 delivered though i'm sure I would go custom if I was buying new. At least I would know it was welded completely around its circumference.
What ever came/will come of the award you got from Renault mate? Slightly off topic, sorry.
Janspeed, 200 cell I believe. And the quality is better than standard even though Fred 'Renaults favourite welding tea boy' Hopkins thinks it's poor ;)
Do it mate. If you have the knowledge and capabilities, why not. As long as you are not making commercial gains from it I wouldn't see it as a problem considering both ECU's would have been yours at some point to do with what you wished.
You could but have you ever felt the heat that is produced by the plenham after a drive. As soon as the air is cooled, it will be heated again on its way back through the intake. This may be an area to look into but the gains probably wouldn't justify the cost/amount of effort involved.
I don't have any experience of the Maxogen but I do have of the Viper which didn't impress me unfortunatley, hence my statement that they made no tangible positive difference. The Viper has tainted my view of the Maxogen, maybe wrongly so.
Again, you've just about summed it up for this tight...
I think that statement says it all though. I wasn't saying the standard box is the best out and out performance setup but I feel it is the best compromise and best value for money. I am far too tight to spend £300 on an airbox when I can mod my own and have the satisfaction of fiddling under the...
No, however my exhaust has probably masked any change. You don't change the fundamentals of the airbox though, you simply optimise them so you may get slightly more noise but nothing like an open filter for example.
In my eyes, the standard airbox is better than a Viper/Maxogen purely from the point of view that a properly modded (Panel, feed, silicone elbow) standard airbox will only cost around £65. A Viper is approx £200 and a Maxogen is circa £380. That's not VFM in my eyes especially considering none...
No you shouldn't need to upgrade anything else, although a strut brace is always a good buy at around £60.
I wouldn't bother with an induction kit, any open kit will lose you bhp and you'll need to fit the uprated air feed anyway to limit the power loss. As for the elbow change and fiting of...
Apex -40 springs, look good, improve handling no end and are only around £90.
As for the induction kit, buy 1m of induction hosing from Andy905 on here (£15), remove the acoustic valve in the wheel arch behind the near side hedlight and fit the new induction hose. Replace the inlet elbow with a...
