I cannae find any pic's on MIG but i've knocked up a little work of art in MS Paint to give you a rough idea.
The broken yellow line is obviously where the cable would be out of sight.
Looking at the picture again, if that route left too much slack, you could even run it around the...
But the mole grips would damage at least one of the knobs?
So the shafts are interchangeable between phase 1 and phase 2 172?
Cheers Edde, you can always be relied upon.
As above. What is the best way to remove the gearknob from both a phase 1 and 2 172. I don't want any cutting involved.
Or would it be more feasible to swap the entire stick at the pivot point?
Lookms like a good repair.
Can't you do what the Vauxhall XE guys do with the throttle cable? Re-route around the back of the engine and bring it up the other side. Will tidy things up no end.
Here we go: et35, 4x100:

Certainly looks like it. Have a look here for similar things:

What is he trying to prove in that video anyway, that he has fitted a John Deere engine to his Clio as it sounds terrible.
I would be interested in this as well Rich if you can get details. I'll check Renault Leeds when I get chance this week.
As a side note, will this fit my phase 2 172 without any issues?
If they were willing to scrimp on the headlights, would that not suggest they cut corners elsewhere?
It looks like the subframe has been straightened/repaired as it is covered in primer.
I wouldn't.
I reckon you would need to alter the wheel arch flare section of the bumper. If you look at the pic's above, the 172 bumper runs horizontally right to the point at the edge of the arch. The non-RS wing has what appears to be a 5-10 degree angle as the bumper forms the arch flare. Looking at...
Orion, sounds like he's spinning you a good 'un. You would be better off replacing the standard speakers (as they are crap) with either co-axials or components if you can be bothered. Run at least the fronts from an amp and the sound quality will be much improved.
So in reality, a 182 doesn't actually weigh as much as 30 kg or so less than a 172 as there is one extra back box and extra metal in the manifold among other things?
Is the tyre foam any good or doe it destroy tyres?
But does the 182 have a 10 PS advantage, Renault marketing said so as Peugeot had just released the 206 GTI 180 but 182's rarely post figure that much above 172's.
Good thinking, that never even crossed my mind.
As we are all aware, the 172 Cup is the lightest of the phase 2, mark 2 Clios weighing in at a purported 1021 kg (or there abouts). Then we have the 182 Cup at 1060 kg (all figures approximate), now why is there a 39 kg difference between these 2? ABS on the 182?
We move onto the FF's. A 182...
Don't sell it mate just because of a slight recurring issue. You have gone to the hassle of diagnosing the fault and have the most probable offender in the throttle body/ICV. Strip down the throttle body/idle air control valve and see how that goes as you can probably cure the issue for the...
