The 197 was running about 15-16ish, it wasn't quick tbh.
I managed my fastest time, a 13.5.
it's all down to the launch. I've had a 15.6 from a valver, 14.7 from my standard cup and 13.6 is my fastest in the cup's current spec. Tbh it'll go faster, but i have trouble launching it! Lol.
High 14's is doable with a good launch in a standard 1*2

a cup doesn't have a load brake comp, renault even failed mine once saying it wasn't connected! Lol. Tell them to check the tech paperwork issued from dot years ago that says all about the cup rear brakes. Iirc my last mot i had a 10 % service brake and it still passed
Jenveys iirc have never had a bad review, however i know the AT ones did, due to them not performing as good ( probably down to the direct to head design, some engines just don't like it). I can't comment on the AT's as i've never tried them, in theory they should work better than jenveys, but...
got the info from various volvo forums and google. I found the t5 had the m59 and some had a lsd. I found the m59 is suitable swap for the m54. I maybe clutching at straws, but all ideas have to start somewhere! Lol
found some more info. Turns out volvo was using renault engines and gearboxes, the m54 box was fitted on renault engines to replace the jc5. The m54 is a straight swap for the m59 as fitted in the t5 with lsd! They are both cable hear change but in theory should fit a 172 with a few mods...
