This is exactly what I am wanting to do. I will be using the Apex springs as they offer a 40mm drop with very little degradation of ride by all accounts. Just how long the dampers last is another question. The Eibach Sportlines also offer a similar drop but are a more expensive option.
P.S. The...
If you're going hardcore then you are probably better off speaking to Andy (GDI), Yoz (Yozzasport), BenR (Angelworks) or Fred (Sorry Fred not sure where you work). These guys know their stuff and should be able to point you where you need to be.
It depends what you want to go for. As with the brakes question, do a search and see what comes up.
Spring wise, Apex offer a good drop with improved handling, Eibach, not so much a drop but better handling. Then there are coilovers starting with Gaz and the like which reputedly aren't much...
Welcome to the forum mate. What is it you are planning to do to your 172?
I ask as I find that my standard Renault kit is more than up to the job as I think may be the general consesus on here. Unless you are going for some serious engine mods as that would be a different kettle of fish.
A...
Mines a 51 but is a 2002 model. I think there may have been a few early Y plates but there were also quite a few Y plate phase 1's.
I'm sure someone will confirm shortly.
Thats exactly the same as mine. Between 70 and 85 it is almost unbearably loud. Not so much exhausty, more a resonance. But above and below these speeds it's silent. Worth it though. It sounds like a WRC Impreza when booting it.:approve:
I managed to find a touch up that is prety much bang on. Audi Crystal Silver if it helps anyone.
Does anyone know of a good wheel refurbisher in the Leeds area?
How about one like mine. Dual 3.5'' (I think) cut into the bumper. Full custom job with Cobra back box. It was on the car when I bought it but looks factory. Sits perfectly and even the tail pipe angles follw the slope of the rear bumper. Shame I can't get it to sit straight though since I took...
Andy, having read your comments about not fitting the feed to the Vipers intake mouth, would this principle apply to the standard air box as well ie. remove the hose that runs from behind the headlight but leave it sat near the air box intake.
I fitted my Turinis yesterday. Cup splitter was fitted about 4 weeks ago. Just got D4ve F's V6 spoiler to fit now and lower it on Apex's and it's done.
Get it done.
I have just bought set of Turinis but 1 wheel could do with a bit of TLC. I also have set of standard wheels whicha have seen better days.
Does anyone know the paint code of Turinis as I think the colour would look much better on the standard wheels aswell.
Went out to my car tonight and the door popped as usual. Put the key in, turned it and everything lit up for a second then died. It turns out that the battery is dead so I have had to buy a new one.
The problem is, I don't have a radio code. Can anyone please help. I can't stand the lack of...
Sounds like you've already put my plans into action Howie. My next mod was to be Apex after a de-cat next week.
So you think I should stick with the Turinis as they are, no spacers?
Thanks for that Megs. Did you see the post about the tints for £115?
When you call tomorrow can you ask how much 2 sets will cost as I would still be interested in a set if there were no issues with rubbing.
I was gutted about the buy it now price. I got back from work intending to buy them and some clown had bid. Ah well.
I just need some spacers now. Any recommendations?
An uprated feed running to the front wheel arch behind the head light. you will need to remove the original feed and acoustic valve to fit this.
A silicone elbow running from the throttle body to the air box (preferably sealed with crank case breather vanted).
A PiperX panel filter.
Job done...
I've just bought a set of Turinis for my phase 2 172. I have wanted to spcae the wheels since day 1 as I always thought they looked a bit 'in' LOL when looking from behind.
What would be the optimum spacing to take the wheels out to 182 spec or would even further out be better?
I have checked...
It's safe to say my current insurers won't be finding out about the wheels as I am paying 1250 at 23 with 3 years no claims on a standard 172. The only reason I carried on the policy was because I was 6 months into it when I changed cars.
The wheels probably won't be fitted just yet anyway but...
I'm going to collect them so will see what they are like when I get there. I will be sending half of the payment via Paypal as well so can always claim that back.
Why do you reckon they are a downgrade Jamie? I want my 172 to look like a 172 and not a colour coded Dynamique LOL.
As for...
