Im on my third Clio now (1.4 16v, 172, Williams) so I suppose I must love em. The 172 was starting to piss me off with the rattles and leaks and so on, but it was a fine car and I wish I still had it. But now theres the Williams.....Mmmmmmmmmmm

Ive just been out for my first proper drive in the Williams, so I dont want to start comparinging it to the 172 yet, I need to drive on all my favourite roads first, but it grinds the 206 GTi right into the ground in every possible way.
It needs the tracking doing which Im going to get sorted...
Yes, but you can still enjoy the car until then. My 172 was starting to feel quicker by about 10000 miles so its a gradual thing that you will probably notice and be able to take advantage of...

Hi Wayne....tomorrow night. Cant wait. Drove the 206 GTi for a farewell (good riddance) drive over the Snake Pass last night and it confirmed my suspicions that it is a boring, uncomfortable DOG.
Anyway, the Peugeot club really sucked!

They make them more powerful, but they make them heavier. Even the Focus RS has something not too impressive like 165bhp/tonne and that big R32 Golf.....powerful, but heavy. As I know, the Williams and the 172s performance is not so far apart despite 5 years and 22bhp between them....sure there...
Ive not had many "races" since getting the 206, but I did race and beat a new Golf GTi (god knows which engine type - think it was GT with a red "i" after it) from two sets of lights. When we pulled up side by side at a third set where I was turning off, I turned to wave and the guy was sat...
I sold my 172 and really wish I hadnt. I should have appreciated it more when I had a chance. Anyway, look what happened.....I defected to Peugeot and have just ended up getting a Williams after 7 short weeks of uncomfortable Pug ownership. Keep your 172. its a great car.

Cooper-S - When does the Hartge kit arrive? Seen a review in some mag (not evo, cant remember which) and it says the Hartge-S has something like 181bhp/tonne! Think it sounds like a bargin compared to the BMW works package. Will look forward to pitching Williams against Cooper-S, but I dont hold...
Believe me, Rob, motorcyclist hate car drivers way more than you hate them, and rightly so. I stopped riding because some dumbass car was bound to kill me sooner rather than later. Oh yeah, riding down the side of traffic jams is called "filtering", and provided the traffic is stationary, it is...
Cooper-S boy gave me a passenger ride in his S and the handling just feels amazing even from the passenger seat. Dont know whether itll be a classic.....I guess well have to wait 10 years and see! My 172 was a MK2, so maybe a MK1 or a Cup will be noticeably quicker than the Cooper-S. Well have...
Cooper-S runs better than "high 7s" to 60. My old 172 would do 60 in low 7s and 100 in about 18.5. I met up with Cooper-S boy and discovered that the performance is nearly identical (to over 100mph). I actually really liked the S. Having said that, the normal Cooper is just 9.6 seconds to 60, so...
Does seem that the Williams engine are knocking out a fair bit more than the claimed 150bhp at the fly though. Think how quick Craggys is....got to be more than 150bhp. Then there is Jon & Geds that got close on 150bhp at the wheels at the Bury RR day......15bhp more than my 172. Just wondering...
I know that bjfosteruk on this forum is selling a Willy 3 with low mileage for £6k. Worth a look. Ive just bought a higer mileage Willy 3 for the same amount from a dealer, so Id PM the guy and see if it is still for sale...

Jon,
It was having your Williams overtaking me at great speed that made up my mind what to look for. Oh yeah, and Craggy kicking my ass in my 172 on several occasions.
I reckon 149@ the wheels for a car that is meant to make 150 at the fly. Same RR day I got 136bhp at the wheels on my 172...

God, yeah. Forgot about the pedals. Its annoyingly easy to catch the brake pedal when using the clutch.
Wonder if Peugeot will be stupid enough to keep selling the 140bhp version when the 180 come out?
A 172 should beat a 206 GTi hands down. The 206 engine is reasonabley good, but it doesnt have the kick of a 172 or a Willy and the gear throw is so miserabley long that every gear change loses more time. All the power is in the mid-range which makes it utterly boring to drive.
If the GTi 180...
