Thinking of getting myself a 1.3 106 Rallye. Anyone owned one or have any opinions on them? Need something cheap, fun, low insurance and good handling, and the 106 seems to fit the bill. Out and out speed really isnt an issue. Also, what about the 106 XS and XSi models?
Cheers,
Rhys
I reckon there might be 2 pipes on a MK2. There is another pipe which pops out from underneath the air box. Might investigate and remove that too......MORE NOISE, IGOR...
Rhys
Cheers! That is the cheapest mod I could have possibly done and it sounds ace Its definitely added somewhere in the region of 35bhp.
Simon - what is the 2nd pipe you are talking about?

Hint - mine were CRAP until I made sure I didnt get wax / polish on the sensor when I washed the car, then I really pay attention to the sensor when rinsing. I love em now. I actually spend time appreciating how well they match the rain. Always need the big "blobs" on the control stalk selected...
Joe - 6 speeds? Yes please! Especially if you could let me know what the speeds in each gear at full revs will be. How much do you reckon to get the kit fitted? Would also need some time to save up the cash for it.
E-mail me about it if you have more details.

Rhys

Just to play Devils Advocate for a moment - what will everyone talk about if we cannot mention racing other cars or modifying?
It is a forum, after all - if you moderate too heavily it just becomes boring. The only thing I object to is people who get rude. Just no need for it. When someone...

Any time is pretty much okay for me, as long as it is not August Bank Holiday weekend. If we all fancy a drive out in the Peaks, weekday evenings are best. Had an excellent run this evening from about 7.30pm until 9pm or so. Very little traffic, very good roads . Otherwise, weekends are okay...
I also reckon it was re-badged. The 306 Rallye is another wolf in sheeps clothing. I like em, and when Ive had a chance for a quick race with one, they seem to be very similar to the 172.

2fast4u - "172 0-60= 7.4" Where did you get that from then? Latest edition of Max Muppet???
We were easily getting 7.2 seconds to 60 with two people in the cars (tested with the AP-22). With one person in the car you are looking under 7 seconds to 60mph for the 172. My last car was a 1.4 16v...

I use it for work, but I only live about 4 miles from where I work. The milage is because I go out for a drive in the Peaks most nights. I just cant stop myself Have managed to slow it down from when I got the car. Was on course for putting over 50000 miles on it in first year. At least that...

I have a secret weapon for sealing things like this that require a strong airtight seal. I used it for the sealed cold air feed I made on my last car. Halfords self amalgamating radiator repair tape Excellent stuff
I assume induction kits are generally just clamped directly over the engines...
