Dont think there is much in it to be honest :) after owning both - id say its easier to extract the performance from the clio in terms of handling and power.
This is still my favourite of all time

- Wheels need a refurb
- Geometry needs doing (booked in at ABP for fast road setup :) )
- I have an addiction to vtec
See how reliable the jap machine works out!
I had an R27 and in my opinion its prob one of the most capable hot hatches out there. It really has to be driven hard to appreciate the chassis though. A quick drive in one wouldnt be enough to decide on it.
Its not as good as the R27 - what I expected but I got it as a money saving exercise really.
The R27 is probably the best hot hatch I have driven, I can see why people think initially they aren't as fun as the 172/182s but when you really push on they come alive - the limits are just higher...
Ok well I was on here briefly with a 172 PH2 which I sold to buy a 197 F1, now ive got an EP3 CTR - thought id post a few pics I took lastnight :)
Since getting the car I have bought a set of genuine honda mats, put a supersprint straight through b pipe on and a magnex back box (chav I know...
Its £80 per event entry - you need to be a member of the BARC (which is £35 I think) also you need a national b speed license (£30 ish?). Then you just need to turn up in a car with a timing strut and the ignition marked up with "on" and "off" and some overalls / helmet.
Thought id share my pics from Oulton Park as there is some Clio content! :)

The only time it would catch you out would be when your out of the power band, the golfs pull welll from very low down! but def not quicker than the 172!
Well if you decide you want one let me know, its as new, tyres arent even particulary warn, got 5000 odd miles to go till its first service. not one mark on it
Yeah mine! although im not completely sure want to sell it, great car, just I dont like having all my money tied up in it. Let me know if your interested!
I can only dream of that kind of mpg with my r27! Im averaging 26.5 mpg, and thats mostly being careful! My main journey to work is a 7 mile trip on back roads, so not ideal for fuel economy. Ive been trying to short shift this week to see if I can raise the average but its not looking great...
Think your right about what you say, however the 197 offers the thrills, when you start to really push it, it comes alive and I find it better to drive on these roads than my 172. Both good cars at the end of the day!
