    Clio 197 paint quality

Every car that comes off the production line will have defects of some kind (pinhole, popping, craters, seeds etc) its just a case of them being picked up on inspection and repaired. Different manufacturers have different standards for what is acceptable and in what area of the car. If someone...

Battery, ecu & fusebox relocation to interior

Solder is prone to cracking under vibration. Its avoided if possible in motorsport looms.

    Warped Again! :(

It may be pad material deposited on the disc unevenly from getting too hot. I had it happen with 2500's even with cooling ducts.

The only safe way to use a rear mounted rack is to take the spoiler off.

Couldnt get the pinch bolt out, lower ball joint.

Renault do sell the bolt separately (I knackered one getting it out :o) but it was £8!

Couldnt get the pinch bolt out, lower ball joint.

The bolt has to come out, it sits in a grove in the balljoint. I can get my buzz gun on with everything still on the hub.

Humming sound from 2008 1.2 Clio TCE

It's not the dephaser, I don't even know if your engine has one. Even if it did it doesn't make a humming noise when it goes. That's a pic of the auxiliary belt, it could be one of the tensioners / idlers humming.

    Battery/alternator?

The battery should only read 7.5v under a huge load or when its dead. If its at 0 at any point its either really dead or there's a short somewhere. I'm thinking an alternator issue.

    Driving Position

For the steering wheel there are many spacers that will fit any wheel/boss combination. A quick release boss will also add length. Look on demon tweaks for all of that. Look at the Burpspeed thread on how to adjust the gear linkage so that neutral is where 4th is now. If that isnt enough the...

    RC Drifting

I've never understood drifting to be honest. If your going to get a car you may as well go racing. (skip to 5 mins if you just want the racing)

    wht ya think ???/

First something helpful - those don't have ABS rings so they'll need swapping over from your current ones. It also appears you may need a new keyboard as some of the keys seem to be working intermittently.

    seatbelt bolt size

Does anyone know what the size of the bolt is that attaches the front seatbelt upper mounting point to the car? I'm guessing its 7/16th but is it UNF or UNC?

I was bored yesterday so a bit of battery relocation and a few ebay parts = Just need to sort the cover on the positive connection and get some protection for the cable.

What gauge cable did you use? I tried to get some 4 gauge through for battery relocation and it wasn't happening.

    Track Day Tyre Advice

I'll be there with my 888's too. I took someone from the forum out at Anglesey who had only ever used road tyres. Was half a lap before he was convinced he needed some track tyres.

    Removing slam panel?!

Don't do what I did! If you use a ratchet spanner don't undo them too far or you get to a point where the spanner is tight up agaisnt the rad so you can't get it out and you can't screw the bolt back in because of the ratchet mechanism. Took me ages to get it out!

Its not really a problem having a black car, just don't bother washing it, there's no point.

KTR/Janspeed Ultra - Not out far enough?

When I bought my car the exhaust was sticking out far enough to see all of the Janspeed logo. I spent many hours of swearing trying to get it to fit further in (moved about 5mm) before I realised about the bumper.

    Adrian Flux

Did you try Brentacre? They know what they're talking about, had a discussion about rear anti-roll bars and not making book power. They quote based on power, everything else is free with like for like replacement.
