Its not a straight fit but a little modification and its great. There is a pretty long thread about it on here, explains fitting it etc... have a search.
As a few have said already, just keep the car standard for now and spend then money on getting it freshened up, bushes, engine mounts track rod ends (obviously only if they need them) get a good set of tyres and you will have a cracking little car!
Bets on if she wants to go back to the RX8...
That's a terrible design fault, what if you blow a fuse during a heavy braking event. I am not arguing that this is all true, but that is very stupid. I thought the brake bias was a mechanical system that ran off the rear beam?
If you have winter tires fitted tho I don't think removing the...
I have been in a similar situation for a while and I have decided the cup is staying... gotta spend some money on it but its staying. Went and bought my gf a car instead which I can borrow whenever I need it.
Thank you. Will attempt to get one of each just in case.

Best I can do is a link to the image. If someone can edit that would be helpful. Thanks
Its a b**ch to get too and I am hoping to pick one up on the way home. But if no one knows then yes I will measure it. I can't up load a picture from my phone at the moment so I will try and do it using photobucket.
When changing the gearbox mount a few weeks ago I had to remove the ali part that the mount sits in (also the part the battery sits on, so guessing its the battery tray!) I manged to snap one of the bolts that holds the "tray" in place. Luckily it snapped in such a way that it still partialy...
Sorry to drag up an old thread, but how bigger job would it be to just swap 5th for a dci one? I am thinking it would help with the commute and when I'm having fun on b-roads i don't usually use 5th anyway!
Yep that was me, was on the way to put a holding fee down on a house my gf and I are renting! Thanks for the comments, it was washed yesterday. :approve: although I did a shocking job of it, wheels are fucked!:dapprove:
Just read a lot of this thread and have to say I am very impressed. The detail you have given is great, I feel like I could do this conversion myself just on what you have written here. Just have to decide if I am/can afford to keep the clio. One question tho, as I don't have a cable throttle...
Re: New to Forum, just put deposit down on 172 Cup, please help with couple of questi
It's very important you check the belts have been done. One good thing you have going for you with the cup is that changing the cam belt is cheaper than on a standard 172. Not sure where you live but I...
That's epic, can you imagine if the sides were solid, so it was a proper moving tunnel. Every time I went under one I would have to drop a few cogs and floor it!!!
You might be better with a diesel. Not necessarily a Clio, are you looking new or used? Because you can pick up a used mk5 golf tdi with low mileage for pretty good amounts now and I think it would suit you from the sounds of things! Or maybe a used focus, the diesels are fairly quick still...
You need to check the legal weight limit for towing with the golf, I would be surprised if you can tow another car on a trailer(clio + trailer = 1500kg ish at a guess). Also you may need a trailer licence, depending on when you passed your test! But if you can sort these few things then I...
This is the problem with a lot of things, not just cars. But you need to still take it to Renault, make a point of it. Tell them you want written confirmation that its okay, or at least a receipt, showing they have checked it. That way if/when it goes even if its then out of warranty you...
This worries me a little. at 80 on the motorway I can get around 35 - 37 mpg in the cup, and that's not being particular careful. The only reason I wanna change is because I find the cup pretty tiring to drive on the motorway! What are your guys views on golf gti's. lbrench, didn't you say...
Gray, is yours standard? What sort of mpg do you get. I am seriously considering one of these in the next few months. I planned on running a cheap diesel and keeping the cup but i with just be burning money. Im going to be doing about 60 miles a day commuting (all motorway) so wanna get...
Hey, loving the car. Just out of interest and a bit of a random question but what's it like on the motorway and for commuting, like in traffic etc. Also i know its been mapped etc. but what's your mpg like (motorway and town) ? Sorry for the questions!
Cheers, Will
I don't know then I'm afraid! Mine doesn't sound like that, mine is a squeal, almost like a fan belt slipping. But mine is also a different car and much older.
Tbh a metal scraping / grinding noise is not great. Hopefully someone a little more knowledgeable than me can help. Posting a video...
