Sorry to hijack. I am about to change them on my 172 CUP and want to avoid any issues. Should they be 12mm or 10mm. Both sizes seem to come up for the car on when searching online?
Thanks,
Will
I am surprised even if a really good set of coilover suspension would give better ride than standard, but no doubt it has the potential to be better than a simple set of lowering springs as long as u are not to aggressive with the set up. With the mini's, as you have said, it is about ditching...
Lowering a car is very very unlikely to improve the ride!
Make it look better - almost always.
Just lowering a car does not in anyway ensure a handling improvement. Everyone seems to think that sticking some eibachs on miraculously makes the car handle better. It is most probably worse...
An aux kit on a cup is a belt for 12 quid and 20 mins to fit. No AC on a cup so the aux belt is much more simple.
Go see it. Check receipt for cam belt. Check the oil is nice and new looking. For a car this age I'm not sure 8 owners is so bad. My car had 3 owners. One was the garage I bought...
It's a great looking car. I wouldn't lower it otherwise it will be unbearable to drive every day. I have one minus the JWC body kit. I have had it almost 2 years now so I have a few words of warning / advise.
From experience keep a close eye on the oil level. Most of them including mine drink...
I wouldn't spend too much buddy. Try and get some used parts if you can to save some money. There are always loads of things on here that come up.
I would go for some Renault Sport wheels. Maybe 15" OZ F1's. lower it on eibach sport lines or maybe some cheap ish coilovers. Wouldn't go for a...
I get a little confused with offsets sometimes but from my understanding, caliper clearance eill be even better than the usual ET38 and ET43, so thats not a problem. The over is if they will stick out too far? I would say not as people put 10mm spacers on so I don't think it will look bad at...
Sounds really silly but check all the fuses and swap out the one for the front lights even if it looks fine just to check. But check all the fuses anyway. I am pretty sure the left and right lights are on different fuses as both failing on one fuse is a massive safety concern. It has caught me...
I think that is the best plan, I will take it to dealer and ask if they will pull me up on it.
Unfortunately I think it will not be classed as wear and tear as it is through the paint to the metal, mini have told me that this will mean it is not W&T. I will find out what they will charge me...
it is on the bonnet, pretty near the light and is very obvious. What do you think having it sprayed properly would cost? Is it even worth doing it or better sending it back and hoping the bill isn't too big. It concerns me tho as the mini / BMW rates won't be cheap!!
i think there are only...
Not a great photo as it is dark. I can do a better picture if needed tomorrow. Also ipad is making uploading a bigger pic difficult. If you click on it it seems to enlarge the image.
So I have an R56 Mini Cooper S. it's crap and as a result I am returning it to Mini in the coming months as I am reaching the point in my finance agreement where I can give it back as I will have paid 50% of the finance.
i have taken all additional cost into consideration, one of which is...
Yes and yes. Plus potentially you are damaging you spring and possibly damper ( depends on the design ) every time you go to max bump.. That can be in corners, compressions or corners with compressions in them. Also bare in mind that it is a tuneable item for Renault so it has an effect on how...
I agree with what you are saying but I think if it is done carefully its not so bad. It's really up to the OP but was giving the info that it could be done. But if you are going to have the head off its going to cost maybe £200 plus labour all in maybe £400 - £500 if your lucky. That's a lot...
There are a few places that can do it head on. I can't for the life of me think of any of them. I have read threads on here about it so have a search.
i think they insert a inflatable bag and then heli coil then suck everything out, if that makes sense.
The main reason is cost of tyres, it will improve the ride as well, as the larger sidewalls give more compliance.
If you swap like for like weight difference will be negligible. It's a common misconception that smaller wheels are a lot lighter. The smaller rim means it is lighter but you end up...
Thanks for the info. I had guessed it would be difficult to get hold of a copy. Would someone be able to post an image if the exploded diagram for the front wishbones, front subframe, steering gear and that general are of the car.
if it is possible that would be great. If its too difficult then...
I am under the impression that if you lift a wheel with the Quaife diff it will not lock up and will spin the wheel up, where as the gripper will still lock up. So if you are clattering over kerbs and things I think the gripper performs better. I believe the Gripper is more aggressive with...
Bit of a random one but does anyone have and can send me / know where to get a copy of the Renault dealer part system with the exploded diagrams for a 172 / 172 CUP? I don't mind really what format it is in. I have the workshop manual already which is great for checking torques etc.
It would...
I really like this and I don't think 9k in almost a year is so bad if your considering depreciation as well. I am going to look for a similar app for iPhone. What I think would be really interesting is to get the same info for a new BMW 320d / similar Audi / similar merc ( assuming you bought...
This would be very very useful. I am just about to begin the process of putting my 172 cup back on the road and will be replacing most of the worn front suspension and steering components.
So far I believe that for the 172 cup the track rods are longer than the standard 172 and as a result are...
Be careful writing off the rear as the issue, it's easy to assume that it's the front that is causing the issue, especially when you think that it only happens when braking.
How new are your tyres and are they wearing evenly? How long has the issue been occurring? Does it pull one way or is...
I plan on doing a fluid change while I am getting the car ready so I will fit them while I am at it. The plan is to have as much fun as possible, but I don't wanna make the effort only to have a rubbish day because there is an obvious change or upgrade Ishould have made before going.
