my bolts are tight, but the drivers' seat still rocks. there are four bolts accessible from beneath the car. two buy the heat shield and two by the sills. under rubber bungs.
Easier said than done,.. but if you're in negative equity I wouldn't buy a car mate. I'm getting sick of my 172, maybe it's just boredum. Not a good enough reason to sell a car though.
If in doubt, do nowt
no worries fella, really never heard of one before. I've only had this car and an old R5 a few years back, that were renaults...
You having a bad day Fubar,.. Or ''ave we got beef''?
If you ask a question you look foolish for a moment, if you don't you're foolish forever.
What's your prob Fubar and crazy',.. So I've only had a Clio for a year, previously driving mostly German cars... Shoot me now
do a search,..
lights indicate low brake fluid. So you've either got a leak or your pads are worn down; causing the fluid level to reduce.
My pads were worn, after front pad replacement the lights haven't come on again.
Yeah, it's all academic in terms of fuel useage. believe me, after over a year of having my 172.
Where you'll notice the difference is performance. My car feels strangled when the AC is on. Try switching the AC on on the overrun, can feel the power being sapped.
I drive it like I stole it, and plumped for CES Uk's £18 specials, lockheed I think. No complaints thus far. OEM are £45 front. They do come with replacement pins bolts/apparently.
Rears were £13.
Cheap as the proverbial....
I've always bought ferodos in the past, but thought I'd go...
levering against the brake disc isn't good. couldn't see what else to lever it against...
the pads are still bedding in, but it stops better already. just in time for winter.
I have the caliper off right now, I'm going to put it on, and lever the piston back in... If no joy I'll be down to B&Q for an almighty G clamp.
Subway that's a very kind offer. I'm in South Liverpool, probably about 300 miles from ya.
i've tried,.. will give it a bash tomorrow morning.
cap's undone, will give it hell for leather in the morning.
Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated.
Cheers fellas, will try squeezing it in tomorrow, if no joy I'll buy a G clamp. (Hate buyng stuff I'll never use again though)
If only they wound in like the rear pistons...
I've got the handbrake on...
Thanks Patrick and Ted, I've been using a brick and scaff' bar,.. Could pop down to B&Q first thing tomorrow for a g clamp though.
Will the handbrake affect the front brake piston compressing? Really?
I'm baffled; have always changed the pads on all my cars...
I'm in the middle of changing my front brake pads...
How do I compress the piston to fit the new pads on?
I've removed the lid on the brake reservoir...
For love nor money can I compress it enough!
HELP!!!!!
thanks for that, but I'm only a cheapo pony-spec forum user, so am unable to view the file!
I have a haynes manual, have done the rears recently; anything I need to know about changing the front padss? Can the pistons be wound in like the rear ones?
can someone post a link to the front pad changing guide.
got a 172, for the life of me i cannot find the effin guide!
i changed the rear pads a few months back, does the process differ? the rears were easy peasy.
cheers, john
mate of mine at renault (down south) quoted me £400 with discount, but with travel costs and the inconvenience I'm not too keen.
getting some quotes now if anyone else can recommend garages.
thanks, john
just saw a albi blue 197, the first mk3 sport I've seen. Was mucho impressed by it. If only it was faster than my car I'd want it to death. And 30mpg combined?! My 320i did more than that and with power oversteer!
