Ive driven Roamers car with the quickshift fitted. It works surprisingly well, even pottering about in traffic. The lever is shorter than standard but I didnt find it a problem. I dont think its a DIY job unless youre really handy with the spanners.
Have a look at the Autoexpress website http://www.autoexpress.co.ukhttp://www.autoexpress.co.uk
They did a test of all the major brands a couple of months ago.
Expect more trouble. Trackday insurance is a rip-off. They assume that you are a total lunatic. I had insurance the first time at Bedford - turned out to be safer than driving through an average city centre as long as you do as they suggest in the briefing regarding cooling-down laps etc.
Also there is the hot hatch shootout at York Dragway at the end of July - therell be a load of us there. Details: http://yorkdragway.intrica.co.uk/index.plhttp://yorkdragway.intrica.co.uk/index.pl
Hes probably posting on the CTR forum how he toasted a 172... DCi80 with 105bhp would be a great motor. Almost the same bhp as a 1.6 16v and loads more torque.
LOL! Tip: If you get married make sure shes the same age as you, otherwise you get your mid-life crisis before she does and daft cars will still be a contentious issue!
I dont think itll ever be a Scooby alternative - being a 2 seater with very limited luggage space will always limit its appeal. Its totally impractical as an every-day car, the Subaru holds all the cards in this respect.
Zorst next then. Dont do your chip until youve done all your other engine mods (induction kit etc). Then you can have the chip custom-mapped to suit your mods.
