I dont think there is real snobbery on here. Healthy debate, yes; leg-pulling, yes (and why not?).
When Renault introduced the 172 it was only available in Silver, and everyone agreed what a nice car it was. Next thing you know its available in lots of different colours and were all arguing...
OK, here goes. What are your wheel plans? If you plan to fit 17"s at some stage stick with 30mm or youll get some rubbing. If youre staying with the 16"s then you can do either, but bear in mind that the quality of springs does vary. There are lots of poeple whove fitted 40mm springs and been...
Haha, I have trouble putting new batteries in a torch! One of the (few) advantages of living out in the sticks is that labour charges are low. Our local tyre place (Telford Tyres, would you believe) charges just £4 per corner for fitting and balancing.
I was on my way home from Demon Tweeks last summer having just had my new Magnex fitted. Car sounded MUCH faster, and I got a bit carried away trying to bait a guy in a modded Escort Cosworth. Needless to say I got wasted, but it was a good fun as he kept letting me catch-up so he could do it...
You are dead right about the adjuster - I was thinking of our Megane! The headlights on the Mk2 172 are HID (not Xenon). No previous Clio models have had these.
Try a local independent garage. I rang round looking for a place to fit mine, I got quotes up to £200! In the end I got a recommendation for a tatty-looking garage who did a perfectly good job for £40.
Greatly reduce body roll, ride a bit firmer but not uncomfortable, and much more composed over roughish surfaces. If you decide to get it done (and in my opinion its the best mod you can possibly do for the money), remember to get your wheel alignment checked afterwards as it will be a bit out.
There is a dial just to the right of the steerig column, but it adjusts both lights together so if ones different to the other the dealer will need to sort it.
Nice one. Its worth getting the airbag light sorted incidentally, since the airbag will not deploy in an accident if the light is on. Get them to do both sides while theyre at it.
Here are 2 cars. 1 has Eibachs fitted, the other does not. Can you tell the difference? I paid £40 to have mine fitted. The drop is pretty subtle but the improvement in handing is tremendous.

Agree, it looks fine, and its a cool URL. BTW Daz, does your homepage lead anywhere (cant find any links other than the guestbook)? Or are the contents always referenced externally like your photos?
Turn on the ignition but dont start the car. Then turn the lights stalk on and off twice. Youll get a beep. This enables / disables the auto lights feature.
Blimey are you sure youre looking at the right car? My engine bay has no space at all, let alone room for all that new plumbing! Nice thought though, but its gotta be an expensive game taking a virtually new 172 and doing a transplant with an expensive new engine. Might be better off just buying...
Ill go to the Renalt garage and do the old - "my car is noisy and my mate reckons its an engine mount" routine. I wouldnt know an engine mount if one fell on my head unfortunately, but Id love to get rid of this damn clonk.
Funny how some accidents seem like a total disasster at the time, and a couple of days later youre all back to normal and not too much poorer either. Other times something trivial happens which turns into a nightmare! Ironic as you say.
haha serves you right! Having 56k I wouldnt have been able to look at it anyway :( If broadband ever comes to my street, therell be no stopping me, but until then IM JUST JEALOUS!
