Just swapped my Focus for a 56 plate Clio DCI. The Focus is a 1.8 and drinks fuel like a fish so as I am trying to cut costs I opted for the Clio. £35 a year road tax, cheaper to run and cheaper insurance.
Hopefully I dont live to regret it lol
I used to work in a valeting place (one of the foamwash places) and I witnessed many cases of customers lacquer being stripped off. The lances were ridiculously powerful there, so I chose to ask the customer if I could sponge their car first in order to prevent me having to go too close with...
up yours mate. I'm scottish and I know well that oven cleaner only cleans the interior of your car..................................................................
I'm always a bit suspect of people who want swaps. Granted a number may be genuine and just don't want the hassle of buying and selling, however I also wonder if its due to the fact that they can't shift their cars for one reason or another so just want to pass their problems to someone else.
I'm trying to get at least £4k for mines. Ideally I want to sell, but if I don't get the cash I would like then I'll just have to hold onto it. It's my second car which I hardly ever use, hence the fact I'm looking to move on.
Plan is to sell the Clio, sell my Focus, and get a newer/larger...
I have my Clio up for sale just now. So far had 4 people wanting to swap their car for mines.
Does anyone just want to buy a car these days lol.
Have been offered a swap for a 53 plate fully loaded VW Passat estate which I am considering as this would be large enough for two kids.
You do get some arsey people though who wouldn't accept this as the book wouldn't be stamped by a dealer.
All through my car history, my dad has serviced my cars, but as he is not in a car garage (he works for a hire drive company) my service books were never stamped. I write in all the...
I agree you should do it yourself. However when coming to sell it may cause issues with service history as the majority of buyers insist on service history.
lol, yeah thats mostly the case on all forums of a specific car. Most selling a car is always told that it's way overpriced. Wonder where all these cheap cars are hiding when I try to buy one.....................................
In my opinon, your car is worth what somebody is willing to pay...
I always enjoy these threads. My dad has been a qualified mechanic for 40+ years. I'd trust him more than any garage to service my cars. Which he does.
I will try both. Don't mind paying for the adverts as I would really like to sell the car reasonably quickly. Got my mountain bike now so the car is sitting doing nothing these days
I have had my Clio advertised on the free sites such as Gumtree and Adtrader with the only interest so far from a chap looking to swap it for a Civic Type R.
In your opinion/experience, what is the best site to advertise?
Typically, just as I advertise my Clio for sale, it develops a fault which I will have to rectify before it goes.
When pulling up to stop, pulling away, I have what I can only describe as a creaking noise coming from the front (o/s I think). I also notice this when reversing whilst turning...

Its not economical really. £42 a month insurance, road tax costs, MOT costs.
I could really do with some pennies in the bank too for the missus to spend on baby sh1t.
I can't do any more miles TBH. Its only used to get me to the train station for work during the week, and weekends I use the family car for the family duties.
Gutted to say the least that I am having to sell my 172 already after only having it 5 months.
My wife is pregnant again with our second kiddy, so no more room for a mid life crisis car that only covers about 15 miles a week.
I should learn to keep it in the trousers I...
