I would probably dedicate the time to other aspects of the car cleanliness, I used to make the mistake of dedicating all the time to the paint in my concours days and losing points in other areas. 3 coats of EGP and a couple of coats or the Onyx will be ideal.
All depends on how dirty the car...
Has left a nicer finish to mine this time round using the Onyx straight after it - should also mean the wax bonds properly to it which should help durability.
That said the Onyx is not super durable so if you do need durability worth getting some EGP under it.
Worth getting the specific cleaner fluid to go before the wax after polishing IMO. I applied mine after a sealant before but it looks lots better applied after the Swissvax Cleaner Fluid which is the route I have taken this time.
The hot glue one - seems to work well, seem lots of areas done that would have not been possible or needed holes drilling. There a a few different ones out there, the one my mate uses is what they use on line at the Honda plant - Does not look as skillfull as the bars do!
Chipsaway and PDR guys are only as good as the local guy in your area doing the work. The Chipsaway guy round here is utter dogs poo and left my 205 GTi worse than when he started. The Guy I use for dents however is fantastic.
New PDR techniques mean they can remove dents even if they can't get...
I was ready to chop my Black Gold in a soon as the realised the Trophy till I saw the colour.
On the subject of what a Trophy will be worth in a few years time, has anyone had a quote price to get the Sachs stuff refurbed when they wear out? Also H&R's v the Sachs stuff on track was mentioned...
But none of them above have 3k on them ! Someone somewhere will be looking for one with silly low miles on it - the guy I know was tempted by the car on a 3K miles one on that alone regardless of the colour or spec. Shame it has no cup packs though.
Not a fan of using quick detail sprays on anything more than very light dust. Anything more a full wash is the safest bet. Follow that up with a nice quick detail spray and the just waxed look should return.
Quick detailers wise I really like Clearkote Quikshine, Sonus Carnuba Spritz, Zymol...
Not really true, most road tests saw the 172 and 182 come out on top. The 180 and 138 GTis where a crap car compared to the 205, 306 and 106 GTis before it aswell as playing second fiddle to the RenaultSports.
Peugeot left there owners nowhere to go upgrade wise when they released the 206...
Bird crap should come off with washing alone, the etching left will need a good polish to sort it.
To clean up the paint nicely worth washing and then claying it to get it nice a smooth and contamination free.
After the SRP and EGP you may get some more depth and gloss and a warmer look to the paint from a Carnuba Wax.
Depending on your budget as to what to use on Black for me.
Under 25 quid - Chemical Guys 50/50
Over 25 quid - Swissvax Onyx
General dirt Autoglym Engine and Machine Cleaner or a strong mix of Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner 4:1. Both he above agitated with a old wash mitt and some car shampoo rinsed with a hose works well, no pressure washer needed.
As for the paint , some Meguiars clay may remove it if not try a wipe...
You can get the touch up stick for the Black Gold from the dealers - 7711229485
Wheels you would need to find a close match or try and get some mixed up.
He will do a proper proper job ....
