turinis are a nightmare, the surface corrodes hence the pitting, we've found a way to get rid of it, but it costs due to the labour time
i always warn people first with turinis, once they're stripped if they're found to be badly pitted there's 2 options, have them filled and done properly, or...
get it to a specialist ASAP, if your aux belt lets go - bye bye engine (it has a 99% chance of wrapping itself round the crank and f**king the cambelt)
2.2 hour job off the top of my head, for an amateur without the aux tool i'd say more like 4hours
did you have a low black mini with BBS rims? or was yours a dark blue one? i seem to remember seeing a mini with an "addz" style number plate in there a few years back whilst i was there
i can't find anyone that does one aftermarket, conti do a 6pk1660 which is a bugger to fit, i use a QH 6pk1663
these aren't renault part numbers by the way, any motorfactor could supply you
mechanically the 172 swap is straight forward, electrics are a bit or an arse, nothing major though, if you can get an entire donor car, makes life easier
