you're sort of on the right lines there, in a very simple explanation, it basically counts the teeth on the flywheel, 1 tooth is missing so the signal goes to the ecu and it knows at what position the crank and hence the pistons are in and hence can fire the plugs
no crank signal = no spark
i can supply you a Gates powergrip cambelt kit cheaper than k-tec
gates powergrip is 100% the same as a renault oe kit just doesn't have a renault diamond on the belt! (renault oe even says gates powergrip on the belt)
are you changing just the aux belt, or doing the full kit?
no because if its too thick then it won't circulate round the engine quick enough in the first few seconds and wear will occur (ok maybe thats a slightly OTT situation) so you want a lower first number in colder conditions
its not allowed in some countries, bt 100% legal and safe here, you can get some fancier solid brake pipe if you want (its silvery/chrome in appearence) its harder than copper though
the first number refers to the "thickness" when cold (higher number = thicker)
the second number refers to the "thickness" when hot (again, higher number = thicker)
thats in simple terms (oilman if you read this, i'm sorry!)
from memory a 15W40 is safe down to -10degC anyway a 0W40 would go to...
nope, they'll scrub like a fucker if you lower it
the lower the ET number = the further out they sit, on a 182 that is bad
you need ET40 MAX ideally ET45 (or anywhere between 40-45)
