Forgot about the haynes manual - cheers! :D
How clogged do you think my 130k lump is? Seems to get quite hot fairly quickly so should i expect a lot of gunk to come out?
About 2k going by what i paid and what bb charge.
Better option sout there tho - mint s/h engines go for a couple hundred, 2ltr lumps for about 1/1.5k...
About 5bhp sounds a realistic number. Think its a bit of a waste on a std motor anyway as it just raises the limiter - bit pointless because the engine is still making its power at the original rev limit. IMO dont bother unless youve got cams/major engine work and even then.....
Ive had both of those. The open cone sounded the best but looses you tons of power when it gets warm. Replacement element is far better - wont loose power but i dont know if it really gains anything over a standard paper filter in reality....
I initially believed they worked but one day i took it off my current car and there was absolutely no difference to fuel consumption. If anything, the car actually performs better now! My unit was on a 1.6 and a 1.8 - my dad also had one on his 1.2 van and agrees with me - a waste of time...
My mates getting a new 182 soon and is up for a bit of a challenge in about a month or so once its loosened up. Thing is, i wanna give him a bit of pasting to show that oldskool rules sooooo....
what would i need to do to my valver to acheive this?
Its already got chip, cams, de-cat so...
Got a pic now;

Does anyone know if the samco kit would include this pipe (its a U shaped one that sits near the thermostat and curls underneith the manifold onto a metal pipe)?
ARB - dont think it really gets affected badly with age as my 130k 16v looked in good shape when i removed it.
Wishbones - think id give the bushes about 70k before theyd deteriorate noticably...metal bit looked ok when i removed mine (considering) though.
Driveshafts - dunno! About 70k id...
Cheers! :)
Didnt want to turn up at the folks tomorrow with an effed car again...theyve got enough issues with it at the monent to give me another ass-kicking.... :(
Vavler has been getting noticeable more hot lately and noticed a pool of collant appearing when i stopped today - appears to be one of the engine reheating pipes....well this one; 77 00 853 580.
Question is, can i just tape it with something untill i get it fixed without it burst instantly...
Williams on bumpy surfaces will be the best hands-down. Coilovered valver would maybe be slightly better on smooth surfaces but id still pick the willy (yes - its setup really is THAT good).....
Not much you can do engine wise without silly money TBH. My suggestion would be to strip the thing completely and drop some buckets in - quite cheap to do and would certianly do more than any zorst/IK etc.....
Well its defo noticeable - car seemed to have a bit more go top end. The seats probably dont weigh that much but it all adds up i suppose. Now thinking about getting some buckets up front to shed some more weight as its kinda more performance for free......
Aye-aye m8!
As said the easiest would be the a straight willy engine swap but its going to cost a lot more. The megane route would be best because outside this club no-one really knows you can use the bottom end so they are easier to source (especially considering youre in Aberdeen) and are...
Excellent, out of interest - what would recommend out of the following? Bear in mind my valver is std looking but lowered on phases 1;
