Hope this helps to identify the parts. Throttle body is the part that the airbox bolts onto which contains the throttle butterfly. It is about 10/15cm along and bolts onto the inlet manifold (the big part that also bolts to the head and that...
Roughly....
Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is a red bit of plastic beside the airbox on the throttle body/inlet manifold (get a pro to mess with this though). The Idle Speed Control Valve (ISCV/ICV) is a brass/goldish barrel like thing thats right next to the TPS. Itll have 2 pipes connected...
Yeah - phase1s like yours but in silver with 195/50s. Im going to use my k-tec (35mm) lowering springs to save some cash but a bit concerned that it may catch on full lock - i know some willy owners have this problem but others havent. My mate was down 60mm on his williams no bother with 185s so...
Nah - ill putting it in somewhere to do. I work during the week and need the car for the weekends so cant risk it being off the road for too long or cocking it up by not having the right tools etc! Looking forward to getting it done like - will be interesting to see how noticablely better it...
When i got my box done it took them about 10 hours in total to remove, fit new box and refit and they charge 27.50 an hour. Id reckon youll be about 250-300quid m8.
BTW - ive just got my driveshafts to source for my willy track conversion - race ya to get it done first! ;) :D
Idle speed Control valve - could be dirty so spray it with carb cleaner or something. Check connections on the top of it too. Could also be Throttle Position Sensor but this needs adjuested by a specialist. Other than that, could be lambda or coolant sensor on its way out....
Hi, does anyone know if this will fit under some 16v phase 1s?
Also, what like is the fitting? I had this kitted fitted to my 1.6 megane a year or so ago and had problems - is this the case on the 16v/willy?
Thanks!
Thanks folks for the info - looks like ill rule out the 16v conversion going by the above. As said, im after a project so may still consider the GTT transplant into a standard 5 shell as it will defo fit and will have more possibilties while retaining the "street sleeper" looks.
I know getting...
In short...no - dont buy one!
Erm...do a search as theres been a lot of "discussion" about the suppossed benefits of the ecotek. Certainly in my case i had one and found it did nothing so removed and sold it.
Thought it might be a cheap way to a quick car TBH.
I love the R5 looks, however a decent GTT is at least 1500quid but say you got a decent 16v engine for 300, a standard Non-turbo R5 for 500 itd leave a fair wedge of cash to sort everything else and pay for the conversion too. Would be pretty...
Interested in the above as i may now have access to a garage for a project soooo....how easy would a 1.8 16v go into a standard (N/A) renault 5?
it must be possible cos ive seen a turbo shell with a valver lump dropped in but would like to know if it could be done easily on a standard (say...
Dont know if this helps;
when i had my NA 1.4 i wanted to lower it and bought -35mm GMAX springs. Trouble was that they didnt seat properly on the standard shocks so popped out when not under load. I couldnt find any shortened shocks at the time so had to go for 5 turbo ones instead. These...
i dunno - paul mitchell says the willy shafts are defo thicker than R19 ones so there must be some other differences somewhere too - maybe damper rates etc? I mean, the R19 bits may fit but they may not be 100% williams spec.
Well, just wanted to be on the safe side really as i wasnt wanting to mix and match too much (e.g R19 wishbones and willy shocks etc).
TBH youre probably right enough about the R19 parts being able to fit. Certainly on the parts list i have, the wishbones are down as R19 as are the ARB bushes...
