You wont be able fit the willy driveshafts straight on as they are longer than the 16v ones. To do this you would need the williams ARB, wishbones and shocks to compensate for their length.

Any thoughts on how much a garage would take to fit ARB, 2 driveshafts, 2 wishbones, 2 front shocks or how long? I have the parts but Im just wondering out if i can afford the labour for fitting my willy front track this month...... Many thanks!

i think although the two types are situated in different locations they both fit (could be wrong). If yours is situated on the thermostat housing, it should have a white plug and at about 15quid you may as well change it to see if it helps your idling issue.

All you 16v/willly owner; what would you say is the best exhaust for power available for our cars and the best for looks? Reason i ask is that i had a BB system before but found it stuck out to far from the back bumper (although it did spit flames). Ive since gone standard (apart from decat)...

When you say red lining it, what revs are you actually doing (i.e. is it hitting the limiter)? It could be that youre not pushing it as hard as it could go..... :D

Nope, i think the car was written off by a reporter and was just a 16v with all the willy bits bolted on and off course the engine. Love hearing about this stuff though... :D

It will fit - make sure you get the ecu that originally ran the older engine as there are different types....

what about the megane conversion? megane lump should be about 500quid, get a used 2ltr ecu and williams starter if the megane block doesnt have its one. Should be able to get the work done for about 400 and sell youre old bits afterwards to amke some cash back (i.e 16v starter, bottom end...

Think the willy one can usually take about 250bhp. The valver one should be slightly less compared to the above as the willy one has strengthened components - id expect about 200bhp or so. Whatre you planning to do like? :D

m8, as far as i know phase 1s are far lighter than phase 2s as i think theyre slightly thinner (15 x 6.5 instead of 15 x 7 that just about every other wheel is). The only thing is that youll get people saying "whys he got wheel trims on that car....". Works for me though! :D

my engine is developing a kindof "chirping" noise which id assume can only be either a belt needing tightened or some kinda of pulley. If its the pulley how easy would this be to sort? i.e. would it be another engine out job do you think? Its a 1.8 valver btw.....

Phase 1 turbine is 15" - think theyre as light as you can easily find....

The GTT is a 1.4 Turbo but will weigh less than the willy lump.

Why cant you use the 205 for travelling? if its had engine work etc itd certainly be as reliable and with the power its pushing out itll be as fast as a 172......more fun as well......
