It is a pain when they leak/dont work but id recommend repairing it properly - theyre good in the summer and id personally find it annoying having it there knowing i couldnt use it. I repaired mine at the w/e as motor had gone - 40quid for a new seal and 60quid for a secondhand unit...took 6...
True, but at the end of the day theyre still breaking the law arent they? Point im making is the double standards attitude going down - the vauxhall mob are just as guilty as us at doing daft things (and ill include myself in that) so were hardly in a position to make sweeping statments. IMO...
What, unlike the upteen valver owners on here whove slapped 2ltr bottom ends on yet still have them insured as 1.8s? Dont see anyone having issues with them yet if its a corsa its a different story. People will always try and get away with stuff like that - if you dont agree then fair enough but...
I would put my money on the corsa - as has been said theyre lighter and on average tend to make more than 150bhp. Std 172s are only about 165ish and are heavier at the end of the day anyway...
It looks good with the hood down but not with it up - dont know why they need one anyway as theres no seats in the back.
Could someone do a photoshop on the back section to have a solid yellow panel accross the engine and maybe a black wing...would look good IMO.
IIRC the 1.8 the better route for turboing due to the crank being stronger...the need for 2ltr also goes away as its forced induction so youll be gaining sh*tloads of torque/bhp anyway. As for what else the car would require, BB did seem to have an otherwise std car that theyd turbod without...
Give it a year or so m8 - times change! I bet if youd spoken to a few of the R5GTT owners back when the first clios came out youd have found similar opinions yet look at their popularity now...
Back on topic though before this turns into a pros and cons of a v6 topic, this chap has bought a...
Thats not what i was saying - i was refering to its styling. The look of the car is so out of the ordinary it really needs similar performance to back it up. As i said, its not slow car but its not fast enough to fit with the looks. IMO the designers did a fantastic job with the exterior but...
Thats the point though - the mk2 may quicker but not by enough - if i bought one, id HAVE to modify it before id feel comfortable driving such an obvious car about. To a certain extent (and please excuse the comparision) its the same as all these kitted up 1.2s going about - i could never drive...
Personally speaking, I think hes made the right choice. :D
The megane is subtle, more practical and faster. As for styling then yeah, its not to everyones taste but its still a fantastic looking car. As for the v6, its defo a headturner but IMO the performance doesnt really back up the looks...
Its a phase thing i think - phase1s will have them and phase2s will not. Anything outwith that i would say is either aftermarket or has been repair/changed with the wrong part.
A 182 wouldnt kill a 172 as as the underlying car is basically the same car but it is better, no arguments there. IMO the performance gap would be similar to the 16v/willy situation but less obvious. However, unlike the 16v/willy case, id say if you stick some cheap aftermarket parts on a 172...
Personally speaking id take it to somewhere like infinicar to get the subframe and mechancials done for a lower cost (reno are always mega bucks). As for the exterior, just do it over time - it sounds like it isnt too despirate to be done if youve managed to do 4k miles in it anyway...
Way i look at is that yeah, i could have had a 172/cup etc with the same money but itd have been standard and i couldnt have left it like that (like all the cars ive had). In the case of my valver, ive ripped it apart (or pissed about with depending on how you see things) and built a car thats...
Mint Compared to mine! I spent all that on mechanical stuff...still got to deal with the rust, chips and dents yet. I know what you mean about spending all that money tho - i always thought this will be the last repair and kept extending my loan as a result. Thankfully, the car has become...
Thats total is just slightly less than me, although mine is from Feb 2003. Scary amounts isnt it? Still, you have an mint, fast reliable car which shouldnt be forgotten...
IMO I think if your into modifying, old is the only way to go as you can rip the car apart/change the spec dramatically without fear of invalidating warranty/HP agreements etc. New is good for piece of mind tho...
