According to the trip I get 57.9 out of mine. Heavy traffic for 20 miles a day. Tonight there was no traffic and it went up to 63.4! Tuesday night I went to stoke, did 286 miles at 85mph and used less than £30 of fuel. They really are stupidly good on fuel.

But your car lives in a heated garage.... If a solid piece of metal can deteriorate, so can a rubber belt, or a pulley, or a tensioner. It's not worth the risk mate. £600 on belts or over £1200 to have the head rebuilt.

I'd advise you visit another garage. One that knows what they're talking about. You're relying on a crusty 5 year old piece of rubber keeping the top and bottom of your gnome together....
