Before you buy go into a local Camera shop and try both the Canon and Nikon and see which you prefer.
I went for the Canon 350D found a good price online and got my local London Camera Exhange to price match. Its not jusy the bodies you need to consider but also what lens(es) will meet you needs.
Ouches all round. Just had some damage fixed where I tried to machie polish a scratch out of a spoke and went through the laquer done by a guy in Swindon Brazo uses, ready to be picked up, was 40-50 quid I think, will find out on Weds when I collect.

I spent an hour or so just on that wing by PC, of you do wetsand it a Rotary will be a must.
I just hope the bodger that painted it pays up for the damage done.
Wet sand, Rotary and then PC is the only thing you can do to try it. Correcting wet sanding with a PC takes ages, you will need a rotary in there to help things along.
Half a wing took me ages, not even attempted the whole...
