No as hillpower chip your ecu to the same rev limit etc as a 2ltr would need. Also its a 2ltr bottom end which aint designed to run as high revs so even if the chip could do it, your engine probably wouldnt last too long! You will actually have more torque if you keep the 16v manifold instead of...
Cheaper option that will save you forking out for the williams name;
Get a megane 2ltr bottom end and williams starter then bolt these to your 16v head using your own flywheel. Then get a 16-2ltr chip from hillpower and away you go! Same, if not more power/torque than a willy and a fair bit...
Right, youll probably get away without new followers unless it make a really tappety sound for a while on startup (old ones take longer to pressurise will oil hence the noise). Mine was on 130k so in my case i had to....
I can say im pretty happy with the result but the extra power is only...
I got my camshafts from K-tec but have stg 2 hillpower chip instead.
Theyre just piper cams if i remember correctly so you could get those anywhere and the chip is mapped for them so no worries there. One thing i will say is beware of hidden costs! If youre getting cams fitted, you will need...
Forgot to say - if you really want a bodykit on that car, theres one made by AS design or something abailable through Prima and its very nice. basically just side skirts, spolier and splitter but far better than the above - ill try and find pics....
*updated >...
I used to have the phase 1 version of that car lowered on 17s with splitter etc and, although i loved that car to death, it was always a lost cause!
Youll never be able to sell it (who wants a maxd megane family car?), there are very few bits about for the 5-door and itll never be that quick...
Kinghorn are very expensive and unless you roll in with a porsche etc the service can be "less than the best". My mates dad owns half broomhill autobody (up beside renault altens) and theyve done quite a few bits and pieces for my cars - excellent job. Theyre also trusted to do insurance repairs...
I took a BB Performance Tuning Cat-Back system off but kept the de-cat on.
Would certainly recommend one as they fit well and certainly on my car, popped and flamed on every drive....check their website for info though....
True m8 - i have to say that only have driven it back from kwik-fit i already think its much better now - even if it will need replaced it at some point. TBH, i now think willy/valvers have enough road presence without the added noise of a big-bore - each to their own though! Still, if i wanted...
...my 1.8 valver!
TBH i cant tell any difference in power from the stainless one - obviously the noise is gone but thats about it - its still as quick as ever only im no longer getting deafened....which is nice!
The de-cat is still on and im gonna take it on a longish run tonight to see if...
Does anyone have a rough price for a standard zorst? Just the backbox and centre pipe......
If i get one how much do you think i could flog my BB stainless system For?
Same here! I cant see there being that much difference in power (the 172 has a similar bore and is a more powerful car anyway so there shouldnt be any lose going back to standard. The only concern i have would be that if i had a manifold and/or decat the packing in the rear silencer might break...
Right, ive got a BB De-catted stainless zorst an my valver and its constantly rattling - driving me mad in fact - so id like to know what difference it actually makes??
Would i be better getting a std one and lashing all the money into the engine but maybe keep the de-cat??
Opinions.....
If you pull up the rubber bung at the bottom of the column youll see a joint where the column meets the rack and its this joint that car wear leading to the column needing replaced. If you wiggle the steering wheel at standstill to check if it does actually move the connection to the rack youll...
What a waste of s good car! As for the professional conversion, why muck about with carbs when it doesnt even have a full exhaust system? No air filters either with the carbs are free to suck in all the dirt/rain from the cars in front of you -
Looks like a homer thats gone wrong...
:confused:Who actually makes k-tec -35mm springs??
I have them on my 1.8 16v and they seem a lot lower than stated - because of this im unsure about going for bb -50mm springs as i cant see them being that different....
My valvers down 35mm on k-tec springs but ive got new shocks coming this week so should i bite the bullet and get BBs -50mm springs too??
Opinions please....
Hmm...still undecided!
At the moment ive got it down 30mm on k-tec springs on new front OE shocks as this was the best i could afford at the time. The car has actually done about 130k but although ive got it lowered it still doesnt feel 100% to me - the back end really drops when i hit the gas...
Im not to sure TBH - yeah, you could paint the bits using the gun etc but remember that preparation and temperature are critical for a proper job. Bodyshops usually put the car/parts etc into a heated tent while doing the job and also leave them to cure at a certain temperature as well so if you...
