To clean the paint you need to use clay to remove above the surface contamination, and chemical paint cleaner of some sort aswell to get reight back to bare unsealed paint. If you sticking to Halfords the Megs stage 1 paint cleaner is ok but AG SRP will clean the paint up ok to.

What out puts does you mini disc player have? Whatever that has you will ned lead from that into the 3mm mini audio in jack in on the Mac. I have been using a RCA into 3mm mini jack straight of the back of the record deck.

Not much better the F1's and Exaltos for me either, time will tell on wear rates. Will stick with the Exaltos on the 182 though. Both a step above the Toyos I used to run on the 205 Gti aswell.
The other thing is the clay would have removed any products on the car which may have been filling or hiding any of the defects, taking the car back to bare paint will show the true condition of the paint.

For a wet glossy look you really need to look into glaze type products that are high in oils, and a wet looking wax and or sealant.
