and £2K spare for the welder, i've used cheap TIG welders before (£1K-£1.5K) and they're ok, but you need to spend the money (reliability is an issue)

an engine bay isn't a nice environment! water, steam, oil heat etc etc
as said previously, a £1K piece of kit sat in the engine bay isn't the best idea IMO
look at the clio cup racers, the ecus on them are under the dash
i'm with Mark on this, granted OMEX say its fine sticking it in the engine bay, but i never would
its a bit like using a hair dryer whilst sitting in the bath IMO!
both inlet and exhaust cams have vvt on the 197
the inlet manifold on the 197 is claimed to give 5% positive pressure, not sure how that works!

ecotek valve, oh dear lord! remind me to suggest one to the cheif test engineer when i'm out in hungary next
