the problem is Renault aren't very good at communicating to the dealers 10W40 oil - yes you can use it (and its dirt cheap) but it says "RENAULT RECOMMENDS ELF" on a sticker on the back window AND in the handbook i can count the dealerships/independants that use the correct oil with 1 hand...

you car hasn't got 178.2 at the flywheel, no one's car has whatever power they "claim" at the flywheel its a CALCULTAION done to the power recorded at THE WHEELS you can state you have 148 AT THE WHEELS as thats where the power being transmitted is recorded

its a bit like renault Vs Ferrari, they both have 4 wheels and run on petrol and do the same thing but with a difference (sort of)

nope, you could have it seviced at hyundai or wherever, as long as genuine parts are used and VAT registered you could take your lambo to ford to be serviced for example

i believe you might be ok if you add engine oil to the mix i know someone that runs his audi diesel on kerosene/parrafin and he has to add engine oil (1pint per 20L i think he said)

a specialist serviced renault is worth more IMO! i'd be put off buying a renault with a dealer service history!
