Wonder wheels is harsh stuff, works well if you have really grimey wheels. I would try it watered down first if you must use it.
I use Autogylm Motorcyle cleaner on mine if they get really grimey, as it's not acid based so wont damage anything.

I have ever been told that I cant test drive any car I have been intrested in buying. Have walked out of a few when salesman have been arses before though, it's there loss though as there the ones losing a sale & commision etc.
My local dealer could'nt have been more helpfull when I was buying...
Im not sure VW are much better, one of my neighbours and his son both have R32's which have niggles and the service the dealer gives them seems to be on par with what moans I red on here about Renault dealers, cars damaged when being serviced etc.
To get the best results from any product you need to wash, paint clean and polish the paint first. The wax will seal in the finish and protect, but the gloss and shine mostly come from the prep work.

After years of owning Peugeots I couldnt notice ant major differences in build qulaity between them and the Renault, all about the same in there 'french' qualities!

You really need to drive one, why did they say no to a test drive? try another dealer. They are fun, but dont expect German build quality!
As for the 206 GTi 180 drive that and then drive a 182 and see which one you prefer! ;)
