I don't know, sometimes its good to have a bit of a harmless windup, if they choose to follow for no reason other than 'not liking the look of you/your car' then more fool them if they get pissed about on a wild goose chase.

me too, and imo its not iroically, VW's fall apart, no idea why they have a rep for good build quality, they are not built well from my experience when they age past like 6 years, they feel solid upto then, after that they flall apart
