The only way you will do it (iirc) is to use a permanant live instead of the switched live. But the downside is, it will always stay on until you turn it off. So if the volumes all the way down and you get out the car and forget to turn it off, you will have a flat battery.

Mk1s are different to mk2s. They're glass so don't respond to machine polishing and the silver inserts tarnish with age. New is the only way!
