only the mk1 172's had the ali bonnet
not all of them had it though, some had ali bonnet + shift light, some had shift light only, some had ali bonnet only, bit of a lottery!!!
you can tell if you have, its feather light!!
arch liner is held in with round black plastic bungs, easiest way to remove them is to slide a pair of long nose pliers under each side of the bund and lever it out
(theres 2 screws holding it onto the bumper also
vaccum line goes from the inlet to the valve

what a lot of people don't know, is Yoz's engine is in being rebuilt, obviouslly with more toys on/in it!
spend what you're happy spending, just get as much advise as possible, talk to people etc etc
yep down behind the headlight, down to the fog, then across to the lower grille. if you remove the headlight then fit everything in it JUST squeases in, the lever adjuster motor touches the feed pipe
remove front passenger wheel
remove front bumper arch liner
remove acoustic valve (and block off vacum pipe)
you have to cut off a flap of plastic behind the grille to get to it from behind
It is easier to remove the bumper completley
pop out lower grille, cut hole
wack it all together, job done
yeah he did, damaged it so much that the clutch disc exploded down from the clutch pressure plate and out the bottom of the box on the start line at pod!!! oil everywhere!!! (it was on a private test day)
my mechanic mate fitted a new flywheel, new clutch and gearbox for £250 labour!!
ITB's or the single ETCC???
i assume you're on about the ETCC, it was purely a development idea, we tried it to see what would happen, it worked well IMO, but the costs involved to replacte it for a customer would be approaching ITB's
ITB's work better IMO in terms of a straight bolt on...
workshop is in staffordshire
its an easy DIY job Dash, any local garage would probably swap it over for bugger all ££
customers get sarnies if they're nice!!! ;)
it costs £25 to buy springs compressors!!! special tool my arse!!!!
the rear takes 20min to do
the front about 40min to do
18mm socket, 21mm socket, 16 or 17mm ring spanner + spring compressors

its a 1hour job all round if you know what you're doing!!!!
i charge £40, £10 a corner which is VERY reasonable IMO
