I own a phase 1 and phase 2 and if i had to sell one it would be the phase 2 all day long......

I have a spare coil pack and leads from when i was trying to sort mine but it turned out to be the injectors. Where you based? colchester or stafford? (I'm based about 20-30 mins from stafford) we could sort something, wouldn't mind fitting it for you.

If someone can get a drawing or a picture, my dad could probably fab one up no probs as he works as a fabricator. That price is rediculous!

I'd try and pick up a set of 2nd hand injectors, mine was misfiring and i did the same as you, leads, coil pack etc and then i got a set of injectors off here for £25. Swapped the whole fuel rail over and misfire is gone :)

My revs kept sticking high and it turned out to be an air leak from the inlet manifold, might be worth checking.

My phase 1 has been laid up and the MOT has lapsed but the windscreen has been broken to the point where it won't pass the next MOT - ideally I want to replace it through my insurance (£50 or so excess) does the fact the MOT has expired make me unable to claim? Anyone had experience of this?

Feel your pain, i was working on my phase 1 this morning, had a list of things to do, change coil pack, leads, injectors did all that and solved my misfire so i went to replace my broken wing mirror to find someone had walked past and taken the replacement whilst i was working on the car! grrrrrrr!

When i'm looking at panels I search round for one the correct colour, as even if it needs a bit of paint externally it means the inside of the doors/tailgate etc won't need painting so speeds up the process and can also be a cheap fix for someone replacing a dented panel who isn't fussy about...

Done this many a time, helps avoid paying a garage an hours labour to diagnose something.

Thats a v.good idea, ive often clocked that my mileage has gone up a little to much from a 'road test' would be nice to see what they have been upto!

I had a letter off renault about my phase 1 172 about 4 months ago, got to take it in when its motd again.

Mine came through very quick last winter only d/side though, but its used 7 days a wk 20k in a year! so does get used!

You have a point, my phase 1 developed a crusty rear arch that i had to sort and seen a few with the same issue. Plus current values of cars seem to have hit rock bottom but the spares market is as good ever! I have an issue where i want to save them all but my bank balance says no!

Yep same here, i always get them mint before i sell mine.

My bro had the same problem, ended up getting one from renault in the end, not to expensive from what i remember.

Yeah it does look low, i bought the springs second hand off here and sure they were sold as -40mm but could be -60mm?

Cheers mate, the phase 2 is just on cheap Apex Springs -40mm i think? ride quality ain't great to be honest very crashy, will be replaced with coilovers when funds allow...

Yes it fools the car into thinking the airbag is still in place so stops the air bag light staying on.

Basically in short i have a phase 1 and phase 2 172 both shamefully out of mot and not being used :o Reason being, i have had to start using a diesel for work and really didn't want to let go of the Clio's, i was going to sell the phase 1 when i bought the phase 2 but that didn't happen...
