I am in the process of fitting an alloy fuel tank. KTR have them on offer at the moment, still not cheap but a weight saving and because my Clio only gets used for hillclimbing and sprinting I can carry less fuel.
Have you thought of a motorbike silencer, there are quite a few titanium ones about. Only concern would be than May be too restrictive despite bikes reving to 10k they are smaller capacity.
I fitted a fibreglass tailgate but had to keep glass for competition class I race in, but still a weight saving. Mine was not great quality so fit is not that good.
if you have the standard rear spoiler you would be suprised how much it weighs, so you could spend hours lightening it by cutting...
Engine Dynamics rebuilt my engine ( with modifications) a couple of years ago and it has performed faultlessly. They are not too far from you being near Colchester.
Remove ABS, if fitted.
I've fitted a single pipe exhaust that exits out of the middle of the rear panel saved loads of weight over the original 182 exhaust.
There is loads of plastic behind the front panel you can remove.
Fit a smaller rad and lightweight fan, though as you are in Italy...
Hi
Harewood does not alloy arbs or rear coil overs and the correction kit contain the correction kit is not allowed as contains spherical bearings which are not allowed unless fitted as standard.
Hi
I went for 9kg front at 8kg rear but there is no choice for rear as in class 1b you have to run original delayer damper and coil setup, rear coilovers are not legal.
May have gone too hard on the fronts but I can drop to 7 kg spring with damper config I have. Trackdays bots run 10 or 11kg...
Thanks.
As soon as I looked at the new struts I realised I had a problem? As you suggested I've just looked at PMS site and unfortunately they only do one mounting type, so if i want a strut brace I'll have to make up brackets. However do i really need a strut brace??
I've just upgraded to BC Racing DS suspension. However the front struts do not use the three bolt holes which my Pure Motorsport Strut brace utilised for mounting. Thee BC Racing struts use plates either side of the strut top hole partially covering the bolt holes to locate the strut. So I...
Hi Jack,
Just to let you know rear glass installed in fibreglass tailgate. and mounted back on car.
As you suggested took it carefully. although I went through two sets of cheese wire.
I used the bonding toy suggested.... take a bit of force to get it out of the tube.... but now all in...
Hi Jack,
Thanks for your help and guidance on this. I’m just in the process of spraying the fibreglass tailgate after getting out all the moulding imperfections.
I have a practice day mid March so will attempt this between mid March and mid April when I have my first event. Gives me time to...
Hi Everyone.
Finally after just over twelve months from my initial post I have an update!!
After all the positive feedback I went to Andy at Engine Dynamics and went with Level Engine 2 rebuild which consisted of forged pistons, 421 cams, cleaned up head, one piece vales and I added a...
Hi,
I am looking to remove the glass from my rear tailgate and fit to a fibreglass one I've just purchased.
I need the glass as for the hillclimb class I run in all the windows have to be glass (no plastic ones allowed)
I've trawled though several websites but struggling to find any...
Hi
Having struggled to find a post providing the weight of a Clio 182 standard tailgate (incl glass), short of taking mine off does anyone know as I'm considering going for a fibreglass one?
Thanks
I bought a set of PS3’s off this guy as needed a set of road wheels for MOT and RR runs and very pleased with tyres and service. One had a flat spot on it, so contacted him and a day later replacement turned up no quibble and full of apologies.
Good outing on Sunday Alex and we both managed to stay mainly on the tarmac and managed not to damage anything!
I have a few ideas for a few mods over winter to ensure the difference is maintained:)
Managed to source and purchase a GKN drive shaft from Euro Car Parts which fitted perfectly, so the genuine driveshaft from Renault is faulty hmmmm.... not impressed.
Hi,
If anyone can help that would be great as I'm running out of time for my first event of the year as I still need to run the engine in and get the car on the rolling road to be re-mapped before next Saturday.
My old o/s driveshaft has a complete split boot (so beyond use) so decided but...
Just get the R8, for the experience of owning and driving a super car. I had an R8 V10 three years ago for about 9 months. I was not a daily driver, but they are really easy to drive all the controls are like an A4 which is not a bad thing. I have quick cars in the past (Caterham's...
I've done a search on CS but can't seem find anything at all yet they say have a combined 30 years experience with Renault vehicles and specialise in Renault Sport Engine rebuilds, parts and gearboxes.
Yes, normally I would have considered this option
I think the Police would take a dim view if I got stopped as this would probably (and should) be deemed a non essential trip at the moment and I do want to keep everyone I can safe.
Alex, Thanks for your kind offer. Andy has been very responsive answering all my questions. It will be a pallet job, just got to find a company who I can trust to deliver it in one piece.
