Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
Car was missfiring on idle and it sounded like a beetle from the exhaust, ha
Thanks for the comments, glad you enjoyed the read!
Now then - over the past few days ive started from scratch with the wiring. Completely fresh 172 Ph1...
Cool. Il remember you've got the kit now on then - with the amount of PM's I get regarding the conversion Im sure I can get you some ECU's to virginise to get some of that outlay back!
Ahhh, hope its all ok then!
You still running on the loaned ECU? Do you still need yours virginising etc or are you getting it sorted through ClioGtt/WillyLover?
The emulator you fixed and returned worked perfectly too by the way
My standard 1*2 engine and 810kg in weight was a tad quicker than a 147GTA, not much in it though. Same with the original S3 really, although I didnt know the person, so had no idea if it was standard or not - he gave up at silly speeds, was equal-ish upto then.
That was taking into account my...
Get one from a factors for under £100, or get a second hander off here for under £40 and fit it yourself. Its a piece of piss tbh...3 bolts and a bit of technique to wiggle it out past the manifold - ive done it more times than I want to remember :(
I was going to wire up a single speed (slim) fan at one point...basically this is how I saw it worked...
Two outputs on the 172 ECU going to relaybox...one high-speed one low-speed. I was just going to wire them both together as a trigger for a single normal relay (so the fan would come on if...

They made some nice shafts up for Mark One on here for his 20vt conversion - he made the mock ups to the length he wanted and they made the final ones...
Might be of some use!
You turn left on the roundabout instead of right to B&Q (As you come off the M62). Then follow the duel carrigeway down for about a mile and LA bowl is on the roundabout, on the right. Turn right at the roundabout then right at the set of lights straight after
Well im guessing Ph1 boxes have the same design as a Mk1 Box acctually, as they can be used in the Mk1 conversions so the dogbone mounting has to be pretty similar... Maybe just some Ph2 and 182 boxes are the one where the bolt goes in upwards? Never seen one in person though!
I remember seeing a 1*2 with a sheared off gearbox mount (on the casing) when using a polybushed mount (bmh.01 maybe? Although his box may have been a dodgy one, who knows) Ive not seen a Mk2 box that uses the twisted sort of bracket in person, so im not sure on the design differences... Ive...
Not bothered taking the gaitor off yet and cleaning the grease off, but how does the outer (hub side) of the driveshaft split from the shaft itself?
Im swapping the outer section to my good driveshaft as the thread for the hub nut is f*cked..
Thanks.
Odd - Ive been using cheapy HC disks, DS2500 pads, cheapy fluid and braided lines....bled before every trackday, brakes were just as good if not better even after the ~12th trackday - still 1/3 of the pad left too... Never had any issues out on track, even after 30 min stints, just keep going...
Easy to check, start it without an elbow/filter on it....see what position the butterfly is in.
Apart from that mine idled high if the lambda sensor or idle control valve wasnt plugged in
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
Just fitted spare coilpack, hanging in mid air. Started fine - no chugging idle and no crazy missfire. I think its something wrong with the leads TBF, as the situation seems to change every time I unplug and re-plug them in. Going to try...
