Starter motor has nothing to do with anything relating to the ECU...
Give the starter/solenoid a tap with a bar/hammer just to see if the solenoid is stuck, because that has to fire and only then will the motor turn over.
If its still no go after that it has to be a dud battery or dodgy...
Done either of those too Jay?
Either snap pin 58 off externally or cut the wire....
Then once youve done that carry on. Does the starter solenoid fire or not?
Pin 58 (yellow on yours, middle row 3rd in from the right) is correct.
The other two are on the wrong pins...they should be like:
Its the bottom row as you have it opened up, not the top...
But this wouldnt affect the starter motor as it should still crank over
take a pic of the inside of your ECU and post it in here...
Find pin 58 on your loom for the ECU connector too, and cut the wire...this way nothing can interfere.
So the starter isnt even cranking?
To finish the year off, put together a short video of some of my favourite highlights. It would be impossible to include every best bit a the video would be ten times longer, but the clips used are some of the best!

Pfffffft moderators these days ;)
Considered PE2s? 205/45 or 195/45 - Id say they would be the best all rounder and probably last the longest. Good deals can be had if you are buying four? (Usually have deals on at Costco)
I wouldnt rate Paradas for this time of year after running them last winter, pathetic levels of grip in...
Cant describe it really... difference between standard top mounts and fitting these was unreal though. Plus the ability to adjust castor and camber is a bonus.
Everything on the front end so much tighter and 'together' is probably the best explination.
Good price, the last group buy that went down was £150 or so, but everyone paid and it fell through as the supplier to the supplier messed everyone around!
Luckily I managed to source them elsewhere
Another thing to check is....the red light in the center of the dashboard, does it go out when you are trying to turn it over? If it does not go out there is something immobiliser related stopping it from starting
Has it got an aftermarket alarm or immobiliser fitted? Or just the standard renault system?
Tried locking and unlocking the car then attempting to start it?
I had this. It did it once or twice over a period of a few months, then started getting more frequent, until it ended up having to pump the pedal multiple times just to stop.
Turns out one of the seals inside the master cylinder was knackered when I took it apart. Put a second hand cylinder...
Its because the Ph1 clocks work off direct wires to the sensors and ECU (thats how I can run Ph1 dials on my Mk1)....whereas the Mk2 most of it runs through the CAN-BUS and UCH systems, so cant be just put in and wired up :)
If you want to loose power steering AND air con, get the brackets from a bog spec Mk1 Clio....its just a bracket that bolts to the block and an arm that holds the alternator.
If you want to keep the power steering, and just loose the air con only, get the alternator brackets from a 172 Cup...

:)
Sometimes I wish I had kept it....but it was too slow and there was nothing else that could be done to it really!
