I cleaned off some sticky goop stuff, I assume an underseal of sorts from the subframe, think I might gravitex it. I think I saw new subframe bushes in the parts boxes as well so may just be easier to drop it, coat it and lob the bushes in at the same time. The engine needed the crank seal...

I've kicked the R9 out of the garage to start laying out the puzzle, started tidying some stuff in the engine bay, cable routing etc. Nothing too exciting, so here are some pics of the incredibly clean shell.

Rear flexis done. Had an ABS light grace me with its shining glory, so investigation revealed a dead sensor. Had a spare in the garage in a hub, but stuck in so I had to cut it out. This is fine as if I ever need it for my own car, i've sacked off the ABS anyway. Fully road legal now and...

Been having issues getting the brakes anywhere near so gave up with messing with the new (but different) brake master. Even the p/n on the original microfiches lead to this cylinder but its not the same. I took it off and looked to see if I could use the guts in the original cylinder. Nope...

For rusty stuff, clean it, a coat of Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80, then Bonda rust primer, then black metal paint (like Hammerite). For stuff not heavily rusted you can skip the hydrate 80.

Yeah, its useful to stop you going all the way through, you want the back part intact for plug welding. I used a wallpaper scraper between the layers to help pop the welds apart, they're thin and strong.
