What a waste that is. You see some bizarre CAT B stuff on there. It will be fairly cheap too I bet as only licensed disposal sites can buy a CAT B. Normal paupers like us can't.
It's defo an insurance job as the lot number is postfixed with an X, means its direct from insurance company. But...
Ta, I built it myself, granted I am biased but its flipping ace with power, heat, light, compressed air etc, Project thread from wasteland to chod haven here: https://turborenault.co.uk/threads/my-new-garage.16605/
This was early 2015.
From the same idiot that brought you the Phase 1 R9 Turbo thread, the 21 Quadra thread the Clio V6 thread, and the (very short) 220 Trophy thread :
A 1988 Phase 1 Renault 21 Turbo in Tungsten grey.
So...here we go again :P
Then I got the new brake bias valve out that I stumbled upon last year, I was going to try it without a bais valve (old one was shot and drums on the back) but when this cropped up on a French page I nabbed it, unused. However, on closer inspection I reckon it'd been sat somewhere damp... it was...
Got a bit more in over the weekend. Put the subframe back in, wishbones, struts etc so its rolling again.
Drilled out the last door hinges on the drivers front door and hung that back on.
Fits the hole :)
Then as I was moving some stuff about I decided to throw on the new numberplate...
I addressed the runs that had appeared on the suspension turret tops.
That was easy :D
I also refitted the servo and master, i've had a lot of hassle with this as the Ph1 9 Turbo has a different master to pretty much any other 9 or 11 model. I've made do with the closest match but its...
I've basically lacquered everything
But - its done now and ill clean up around the garage as I go, no biggy. With all the stuff I do in here it's not like it's ever not dusty or dirty or whatever.
The main thing is that I got it done, I can hoof the subframe, suspension, brake master and...
I want to paint the very least amount possible myself, as I am terrible at it and far too impatient to ever get a proper finish. The back is for protection in case I need to leave it outside under a cover for a bit (more on that in coming weeks :) ) and the engine bay so I can refit the engine...
Friday night I realised i'd not covered up the welds with seam sealer so I bunged a bit of that on so it was dry for the weekend, but then I realised it needed primer on it also, so while I was mixing some up I decided to coat the inside of the boot and rear slam panel too
Then I put it back on stands, dropped the subframe off again and stripped it, cleaned and prepped it for gravitex coating.
Got the car ready for some primer too
And applied some stuff!
Epoxy primer in the engine bay, more to stop it rusting than anything but it turned out pretty...
Of course, I got a bit done over the xmas break but not a huge amount, as I needed to do the BIG service on her Clio, inc a Clutch, so I pulled the whole lot out. Behold the 75 screaming horsepowers of the 1.2 8v Clio!
I did drag the 9 out to rearrange the garage to do this
Once the Clio...
Tried remounting the back doors as Steve did with the 11, but it was a pain in the arse. I drilled the hinges out, but getting them to line up is a fecking nightmare game. I think the pillar doesnt sit in exactly the same place after the sill change.
Looks OK when closed but only as it's...
You know what, i'm not keen on em personally. I've just bought a set of OE 220T wheels for some sticky tyres, I like the ones on it now also but maybe I'd like to try something like this in the future... I like spokey wheels :)
Decided to treat myself to the EDC Clio I have been hankering after for a while and had almost given up looking for a nice LY one (Car dealers - ugh - amirite?)
Then I came on here to remove a for sale post for another car I put up, as it had sold and @Lewi86 has posted an ad for this car - and...
Now we're cookin' on gas :)
Back on stands
Cleaned up the rear beam bolts a bit
Dragged this out, you may remember from earlier in the thread!
Couple of hours later...
This is why the bolts were manky, exposed to the elements
Spent some time trying to get the torsion bars...
As I couldnt rebuild the legs now, I looked around for something else to fiddle with and found the siezed handbrake pivot that I left to soak in a tub of WD40 months ago. The WD had turned to jelly but had freed it up enough to get it apart and clean it up - so I did.
Greased and refitted.
