Does anyone have any ideas why my Ph2 172 is going into limp home mode, won't go above 3k rpm and looses power ?
There is a light that comes on and it has a line going through it like a heart rate monitor.
There are no other light that are on apart form my airbag light which comes on and off...
What size are the retaining bolts on the front calipers on a 1*2 ?
I mean the thread size of the 13mm that you remove to change out the pads ?
Is it a m10 bolt with a 13mm hex head ?
I've heard of steering wheels slightly off centre can be caused by tracking/wheel alignment that aint done correctly.
Is thre anywhere else that you could take the car to get it done ?
Re: Oil Pressure and Oil Temperature
The difference with NPT and BSP is pretty visible when you see them, as NPT threads are tapered although you can get tapered BSP thread to make things a bit more confusing.
NPT...

Unless thats classed as foreign ?
I have done a fair few searches but thought theres no harm in asking on here to get an idea who to stay away from etc.
Bit of a long shot i know,
The time has nearly came to renew my insurance again and my renewal has went up to £418 per annum with £150 Excess for fully comp for a 27 year old with 7 years protected Ncb with no claims or points etc but a 6 month ban for totting up .
Why would it go up with more...
Re: Oil Pressure and Oil Temperature
Yip, you may need to get shopping for an adaptor if the oil sender/sensor you have if it happens to have metric threads as i think some of them can be :(
The port in the side is only suitable for a oil pressure gauge as the sender/sensor for temperature...
Re: Oil Pressure and Oil Temperature
Heres a pic of what i settled for before removal but it doesn't show the fitting with the standard oil pressure light/switch sensor hooked in.
The adaptor in the end of the T fitting is to reduce the M14 x 1.5 Female thread to 1/8" NPT to allow me to...
Re: Oil Pressure and Oil Temperature
The first link you posted with the hose has no sealing face on it resulting in oil chasing down and leaking out the threads under pressure as there metric.
As for the second one (the rectangular block) its a better one to use.
The reason for it is you can...
Heres a quick few words on how the plunger switch works.
Plunger activated Alarm Swirches When the plunger is pushed in (bonnet closed), the electrical contacts are closed.
When the plunger is released(bonnet opened or prised open), the electrical contacts open setting off the alarm.
The...
Good luck.....
I'd be suprised if they can find it on the system without a part number which the switch will no doubt not have on it as its part of the alarm kit.
But i guess theres no harm in trying them.
Failing that try halfrauds in there electrical section, maplin and ebay who may work out...
I was gonna say get pics of the pads up, but thats probably not possible at the moment.
Lol
All i would say really if you decide to use them again is to make sure the pad braking surface is in good condition with no lips/grooves on them etc to enable it tobe in 100 percent coverage on the...
I haven't seen the wiring but going by the picures i've seen there is only one terminal on the switch which i guess the positive wire goes to connected by a spade connector and the earth wire grounds/earths itself somewhere on the cars chassis/bodywork in the engine bay.
Unless the screw that...
I guess you could try, but they might not know what your talking about unless you have a part number :rasp:
Even try ebay, Maplin or Halfrauds.
The prong or switch may have been removed to cancel out alarm problems with wiring going to it etc but i guess you'll find that out when you fit a new one
Could this be the alarm switch above your right headlight ?
As the wee black bit above it looks like the prong type switches they use to determine whether the bonnet is opened or closed.
The only difference with yours is the prong/rod is missing that usually moves in and out if you push it...
Re: Oil Pressure and Oil Temperature
I had them fitted using two t piece from where the standard oil pressure switch is fitted.
Only thing was the oil pressure sensor was a bit on the big side and it was a bit tight for space after i'd refitted the standard pressure switch and oil temp sensor...
No offence mate.
But "Kwik Fit" ????
Of all the Kwik Fits i've been into in the past its safe to say i'd never let some Kwik Fit spanner monkeys loose on my car as alot of them are clueless and don't give a s**t and the quality of there exhausts etc a re crap.
Get you ass to a custom made...
Ouch, hope you manage to get it fixed soon mate and doesn't work out too costly :(
I'be better change all my oil levels etc tomorrow now as last time i did it was last weekend and all was ok but reading this makes me paranoid now.
Lol
Spotted a Blue 172 Cup (HT53 NTU) parked outside Kwik Fit in Stonehaven most of this afternoon.
It had a Cs.net sticker in the rear window so i'm guessing its someone on here and the tip of the backbox was hanging quite low (below the bumper).
It looked standard although i'm sure i spied...
