Top 3 tyres for best grip in cold/wet conditions

Cheers for the response, Rob. I'll check again to make sure the PSI is where it needs to be. It was a long time since they were last used I wonder if they've degraded in how they've been stored. M&S tyres (apply sultry female voice) - these aren't just tyres, they're mud & snow tyres! Nokians...

It's definitely an option I'm considering.

    Fitting a new number plate

Piece of cake. A lot of people do it and remove plates when they do track days then stick them back on when they're ready to drive home. If you want to remove the pads just tear them off and go back to screws - the plate will cover any mess left behind so it'll never be an issue, but I'd just...

The 'Where's my old Clio' Thread.

DIdn't look like it had been serviced since Louise got rid of it, there was paint/bodywork damage all over it, with some horrific attempts to touch it up, Top Gear cone filter, possible injector failure because it was misfiring badly with a flashing EML, those springs were awful. Not sure what...

    Fitting a new number plate

Hey Matt, have you considered going screw-less for a cleaner look? I used some 3M sticky/velcro pads, from Halfords I think, and they've been on for 3 years without any issue at all. Just make sure the surface is 100% clean before you apply the sticky pads.

Cub's Flamer - Supercharged, Cage etc

Further to Sonny's questions, was it more of the tweak to the existing map you thought it might be, or did it require a full map starting from scratch?

    South Wales - Liquid Yellow 182 - MK05 HBE

Hi guys, Does anyone know this car? It's currently up for sale here: http://www.3dcarsales.co.uk/used-cars/renault-clio-newbury-201410067996183 From what I gleaned it's been in Merthyr for the last couple of years so just wondering if anyone can shed any light on it?

Top 3 tyres for best grip in cold/wet conditions

Totally with you - I've got Dunlop Winter Sport 4Ds on the 3 series, but that's driven differently to the Clio. Do you think winters would offer more grip than something like a P Zero Nero, or Asymetric2, on average, over the next 4/5 months?

Top 3 tyres for best grip in cold/wet conditions

I've currently got Turinis with Hankook Ventus V12 Evos in 205/45/16 but having recently switched from 2118s and Yokohama AD08Rs (195/50/15) I'm finding the Hankooks a little lacking. I want to swap to something that will tide me over until things warm up next year when the Yokos will go back...

    Tim's Trophy - #455

Cheers Rob, I'm now on the lookout for some anthracite 2118s - I want to try something different (for me)... I picked up my mats from Renault Wolverhampton - the trader on here. They were much needed at the time!!!

Cheers George! Signed back up with Greenlight over the weekend - such a competitive price, excellent levels of service, and really friendly, knowledgeable staff too. Makes me wonder why I left them in the first place.

    Tim's Trophy - #455

Time for me to eat my words. I've just taken a call from Dick Lovett BMW, Hungerford, who have booked the 3er in to have both front wings replaced in early December, courtesy of BMW UK's 12 year corrosion warranty. Gobsmacked!

    Most cost effective 172 modifications

I think a 3/4 plate is pretty cost effective. For £15 it transforms the front end.

5 Megane RS Convoy around ring in under 8 mins

Strong levels of trust between the drivers to drive that fast and that close to each other. Kudos. Thought he'd binned it when he left the track but he seemed to stay very calm & composed. Good vid

Spec list is pretty big, I'm just not convinced about the colour - it looks like it used to be yellow but has faded plenty.

I bloody hate insurance - accident moan

Gutted for you, life can be so unfair at times. Can you appeal the decision? I'm not sure how, but is it even possible? Take the chap to court and get him to admit 100% liability? Sadly it'd turn into your word against his :(

Beat cam kit to go with jms rs2??

Are these @Cub.'s old cams? How are they working out with the RS2? I know plenty of people have tried the RS2 with 197 cams, but not many with 438s, from what I can see. Do you have any results, either RR graphs or subjective views on how it drives compared to before? I'd be interested to...

Beat cam kit to go with jms rs2??

Is that to any detriment of torque losses lower down the rev range though? Or is there no downside to 197 cams with an RS2?

    Insurance

Price depends on so many factors - your post code, how many miles you do, your profession, where you keep your car overnight, your driving experience & access to other cars, convictions, no claims bonus, level of cover, extras etc, it's so difficult to compare one price to another. Sure...
