Considering the performance Renaultsport Clios offer I think the mpg is more than a reasonable trade-off!

I drive less than 4k a year and I care about mpg, but then I can't afford to piss money (or fuel) up against the wall. If I'm in a queue of traffic doing 50 on a single-carriageway road I'll be in 5th leaving plenty of room to minimise speed differential.
