Mine broke at about 70k miles. i took the door card off to fit speakers and once i replaced it and plugged it back in, it worked again.
I assume after 70k of pushing it the plug on the back just worked its way loose. So give that a try.:o
Why isit a headscratcher?:S
Its a torx bolt going through the floor holding the seats in. Get a ratchet and a torx set on it and un do it. If its tight give it some wd40.
Its probally where they have pulled one of the sleeve joins too tight together. Will be an easy fix so just give them a call. Stupid that they gave it back to you like that it looks really wrong.
Mine were doing it when i first got the car. Wire brushed the rear of the wheel where it meets the brake disk and copper greased them up and they are fine now.:approve:

Just buying new pads probally wont make much of a difference. As said get some new disks on there too and flush the brake fluid.
