I'd say that for the price and his expertise he'll have priced for this too, give him a ring, be polite and ask him what he'll be doing as it seems a lil pricey, if he's genuine he'll have no problem explaining the parts :)

Agh fair enough, if it's under warranty, steam into your dealer with a very stern look on your face and pick your target, tell them you want it fixing please, as it's not running, if you're polite yet serious they should sort you out swiftly and free :)

Personally I can't see how the gear box could sort that, you tried an Auto-Electrician? Try and find a garage you're happy with and stick with it, then they know what they've done next time it comes in so don't spend time re-doing work at £30+ an hour

I wouldn't say it's a case of when they usually fail, it's when yours will fail I'd worry about, get it changed if there is no receipt of it being done, just to be on the safe side

If what I read is right, the RS Tuner map is designed for lightly modified cars, so yeah, should be fine :)

If the speedo stops working then I'd say it's definitely a wiring fault and not the engine, check the earths, or as I was told, 'sit down with a bottle of coke, an afternoon and some patience and go through the wiring' lol hopefully it'll just be a loose connection and not a major problem :)

I've been wanting to do this, only solution I found so far is a touchscreen head unit on Fleebay with a preamp so will run the speakers as well as be a monitor and touch screen for PC, only problem was it was some HongKong thing for £150 so don't trust it :( As for that box, does your car move...

Do renault not change the plugs with a full service?

It could well be a Lambda then, it it's not reading right it'll mess with the fuelling and could cause it to overfuel, giving bad performance and then the backfire, I live in foulridge, but am currently in Leeds for uni exams. When I'm back I'll give you a shout, I have a spare Lambda or can try...

So many people so close lol, try the wires under the fusebox, they often corrode, and check the ECU connections etc, you checked the Lambda sensors?

Have you checked all the wiring? I know the garage that did mine said it was bad earth on the ECU and the ECU contacts, could be worth a try

I wouldn't think a strut brace would do much, as this just increases ridgidity of the car, so will put more on one tire. Also, I wouldn't really be saying I was scared of going over 80mph on a public forum when the national limit is 70 lol

I couldn't see it being a blockage if it runs normally, does it do it if you gentally build up the revs? Is it kangeroo-ing or missfiring?

I used blow torch on mine to heat it up then cracked it off with a molgrip, just keep it well clear of the seat though lol
