my method was sand them down a bit to get them smooth.

no the engine wont get too hot if anythink i think it would be good for the engine to disperse heat quicker out of the engine bay. i think its there to prevent the bonnet from getting too hot.
kie1an mate i cant remember where people said they got them from have a look at some of the project threads on here and the people have said where they got them from.
in my opinion i think they only look good if the hole cars stripped out and lots of carbon fibre and race bits.
dash trims you can get laminated ones then they are laqured a guy on here was selling them on ebay. do a search he has a thread on here about them.
door cards are just like a flat piece of cabon fibre so it looks like a race car you can see an example on the project threads a couple of people...

spoiler should be worth £30-£35 bit more if its colour coded
wheels if they are the dynamique ones which are like the 172 alloys but one inch smaller they should be worth £200-£250
if they are the not like the 172 ones they should be about £100-£150
its used after the primer to give a good base colour on which to apply the top coat. eg some primers are red. then they would use a white base coat, then they would apply the *silver* top coat then the laquer!
Power cable down the left side from the grommit i just pushed it up under the trim a bit never needed to take out any trim or seats.
When you get to the door pillar i used a coathanger to pull the cable through by where the seatbelt attatches at the bottom.
Then it should be out by the back...

in the iso block there is a wire which has a constant feed from the battery to the headunit to keep the radio presets and time each time you switch off the engine. when you fitted the headunit maybe one of these wires got pulled out of the connector.
i have no idea which wire it would be you...
Upgrading to a dynamique spoiler
Purchased off of here and fitted today found it really easy only took about 20mins which included cleaning the parts behind and underneath the spoiler!
*** pictures wont upload lol so this is pretty useless***
i didnt think they were plastic but if they are painted then u could possibly just use wax on them like the paintwork.
If they are coloured plastic then try something like ag instant show shine it keeps all plastic looking good whatever colour!
i assume you mean the black plastic trim?
you need to just give them a good clean then u can use a number of things on them:

or try either baby oil or wd-40
