i got a 1.4 8v alize and the headgasket was gone when i bought it. drove really slow and only ran on 3 cylinders. if this is your problem it will be expensive to fix! my dads a mechanic so he done...
yeh i thought that you could maybe get headunits which are capable off this i definatly wont be "bodging it" on my system it was just an idea that i though of.

looks like anthracite to me i dont know the paint code but ive heard that rovorstone grey is a good match! i dont know what manufacturer that is from but do a search you will find it easy.
if you amp your front components could you bridge your headunit into 2 channels instead of four channels and use this to power the rear coaxials in your car. eg. 4x50w headunit bridged to 2x100w just for the rear speakers as the front ones will be amped through the pre amp output.

coaxials are definatly better than 6x9s
you could put components in the rear but you would have to find a place for the tweeter. amping them would be good and very load and good sound quality.
although you could amp coaxials in the back and the components in the front and it will still sound good.
the contaminination is all over the car but just seem to be really beded in. i tried one small section for a bout 5 minutes and it doesnt even come off!
right well ive worked out that i need components for the front of my car. can anyone reccomend any good sets that are easy to fit. its a mk2 ph1. will i have to take the dash off to change the tweeters? im thinking yes
i will just be running them of my sony headunit and not an amp.

i did mine too but if they arent too bad you can just lightly sand down the rim and then get some touch up paint. paint round the rim then use the laquer. depends how fussy you are.
