best way to drive to save petrol

use engine braking wherever you can. I could easiy be wrong but is it right that if you're letting the engine decelerate itself, it's not using any fuel at all?

    How strange - Import??

I should have kicked off at Crystal when they sold me mine, they never said a thing about it being imported in any way, now any time I consider part-exing for something else I get screwed out of a few hundrew quid. Mind, the bloke they had in sales then isn't there anymore, quite possibly due...

    shaking steering wheel???

whip it over to anywhere that does tyres, get everything balanced and tracked. If that doesn't fix it then they'll tell you what will, but you'll have had to get these jobs done regardless of what else may be the cause. Don't get wound up about it, its quite unlikely to be anything truly...

What tyres are you using on 172 phase II?

Contisports. but only because that's what came on mine when I got it. Used F1's on my Mazdas before, never had a problem....apart from in snow

A day out with some classic Clio's and EVO magazine. (Pic Heavy)‏

I've been waiting for Evo to do a Clio timeline for ages. Looks almost exactly how I'd imagined it.....although I'd have thrown in a GTT, 172 Cup and original 16v for good measure too. Might actually buy this copy, moved over to Performance Car recently, but that appears to have died!

    Replacing standard speakers

yeah, straight swap. you'd do better to u;pgrade head unit first though. You can get alpine ones that dont make your dash-top display redundant too

    Someone must pay

alright fella. Wainfleet eh? Yep, only a short blas away from where I am. Anyway, here's the first place I found, but there are plenty of other companies from what google says. http://www.taketheweekendoff.com/scpcalc.htm

    Someone must pay

Right, found this company "Shine", who'll come out to me and, from what it says, do the job on the main offending area for £50, complete with a wash, wax and polish. sounds like a winner to me, unless someone is going to tell me that they are really bad?

    Someone must pay

well, it's not a cup and it's black with gold fleck I have been corrected on the paint now
  21. G

    Someone must pay

thanks gally. only that I wouldn't even want to try doing it myself, being really bad at this kind of thing. anyone around lincs who'd accept cash for painting services?

    Someone must pay

"Smart repair"? The bumpers are alright....ish, it's the bit juuusut next to the light which is most obvious. how they managed to not break the cluster itself is a miracle
  23. G

    Someone must pay

well, since they're not massive, just bright, any fix would be fairly inconspicuous. so long as it doesn't look like someone's taken nail varnish to it, it'l be alright. anyone got experience of halfords' attempts?
  24. G

    Someone must pay

my bad. it's got a goldish fleck in it, that's all I knew but I stand corrected. I guess that means it's evenworse to sort minor dings?

dang well, the door could really do with some work too after next doors little shi......child decided to fall down the side of it with his bike, but that is nearly invisible once chip-sticked and black-polished. as for how bad (without pics immedietly to hand, will post soon) between rear...

    Someone must pay

Well, you get back home after a weekend away and find someone's inability to judge distance has led to your black-gold 172 having a big cement-looking scuff on the rear panel and bunmper. a half hour of swearing an black polish has left me with just 3 big patches of bare metal, not immedietly...

    Suggest A Steering Wheel...

it's gotta be leather, no mistake. it's the one of the few things you are using all the time in the car, it must be worth spending out on a quality one. I wouldn't change from my standard one. Mind, the thumb grips haven't given up (yet)

    182 VS FRP

get an FRP. it'll still be worth money in a few years' time when all the 1*2's are unloved rust-piles. sure, they cost to keep in parts, but it is a truly motorsport-derived variant, far more so than the Renault sport offerings.

sunny scunny 182 (pic heavy) thought id best start a thread...

I see you're using an Alpine HU. There's a cable out there that'll bin your dash-top display back to life, it's not the cheapest bit of wire, but it is worth it, just to give a more "factory" feel to an aftermarket unit. Does the stalk controls too, as a bonus

    android or symbian phone

wow you get a whole day out of an X10! that' pretty good. If used as intended (with timescape running, using Wi-fi whereI can) then getting through the working day after an overnight charge would be a surprise!
